Loading of .mml map files without erasing everything was actually meant as a feature. There is an x,y offset which shifts where the map is loaded to.

I haven't seen the folders issue. My install of 4.1.0.20 seemed to work just fine. Is it possible some installs of 4.1.0.20 are ok, and I don't need to use this hotfix?

They are compatible. 4.1.0.8 fixed the tooltips and dealt with some steam issues. There should be an abating update to. 8

There's an option for High Contrast that turns off most of the backgrounds.

Have you done the normal things like making sure that you are running the latest drivers?

I can run it fine on my non-gaming laptop which has an MX150.
