RE: Paramarines!

<t> Yes in my experiments paratroopers always automatically assault (shock attack) as soon as they land. No need to give them the order to assault as with the other troops: this means that there is no delay in the assault. This is interesting if you need to reinforce an ongoing assault (or maybe ...

RE: True Colors

Hi Dario,
your color sets are very nice [8D]. You may want to try to contact Spooky at http://mathubert.free.fr/ : he will probably be able to host them. It is the only website for UV mods that I know of.

Cheers, Zulu

RE: Paramarines!

<t> Hi Joe,<br/>
thanks for the tip on paramarines. I never tried that and I had no idea you could do that (is it in the manual? I have not yet checked to be honest...).<br/>
Could you please explain in more detail how you use them? Do you need to have a Dakota squadron in the starting base? Are ...

RE: Bombardment etc.

<t> You can actually have your bombardment TF stay in the target hex but you have to use a work around: you have to set it to follow another TF that is set to "do not retire".<br/>
<br/>
For example, you may want your bombardment TF to provide cover for an invasion force (i) bombing the target hex ...

RE: AI cheats?

<t> Hi Plasticpanzers,<br/>
<br/>
I think you have to look at this game in a different way. In UV you really do not issue orders, but you rather issue strategic directives. Your local commanders keep your directives in mind, but then issue their own operational orders.<br/>
<br/>
These orders ...

RE: v2.42 Limited Public Beta Available

<t> Hi,<br/>
I have tried the beta patch. I still had the disappearing C-47 bug in Scen. 7. I did as michaelm suggested and it seems to work: if you save the scenario before playing it and then load it from the slot where you have saved it, the C-47s do not disappear any longer. Good find, michaelm ...

RE: Patch 2.41 is out!

I also think you need to have either 2.3 or 2.4 already installed: this is what Erik Rutin said in an earlier thread, but I do not know if it is official. More importantly: does the new patch work? (I had not time to try it yet)

RE: What is AU?

<t> In UV, the screen that reports the ships present ina given base, lists SC and PG under the category AU. Minesweepers (MSW) are actually listed under the category DM. Therefore thare are ships listed as AU in UV, although minesweepers are not one of them and my previous example was wrong. I do ...

RE: What is AU?

<r> Actually there are ships listed as AU. Look at the game website <URL url="http://www.uncommonvalor.net/">http://www.uncommonvalor.net/</URL> in the screenshot page, the third in the top row and you will see it.<br/>
AFAIK, AU only appears in the "base" screen and it is a sort of residual ...

RE: Coastwatcher mayhem RE: 2.4 Patch Released!

<t> There definitely is a problem with coastwatchers... big enough to stick with 2.3 for the time being. At least if you want to play with previously saved games and against the AI. However thank you, Matrix, for this new patch: I am sure this problem will be soon fixed. <br/>

By the way ...

<t>What I *think* I have learned so far about transports is the following:<br/>
<br/>
1) when you order them to load (at the starting port), immediateley also set a destination. Then set a home base to the base you want them to return AFTER they have unloaded. Of course you do this, only if the base ...

<t>No takers for this question? It should be very easy to answer for anybody who has played even only one game. <br/>

Perhaps I was not clear enough. Let's make an example: load scenario 1 as the US. In Port Moresby, you have (among others) a squadron equipped with Hudson: select it. Note the ...

Ships and a/c ranges: depending on map magnification?

<r>I am sure somebody has already noticed this, but I have not been able to track it down in the forum:<br/>
<br/>
the ships and aircraft ranges that show up pressing the F3 and F4 keys (i.e. the yellow and green circles for ships and the black and red for aircrafts) are different if viewed in the ...

<r>I am new to the game and I just picked up a copy at a local store (European version, already patched up to 2.30). I could not see any ASW rating for ships. I also tried to re-patch using the 2.30 US patch downloaded at Matrix website. I have not experienced any copy protection problem in doing so ...
