RE: What's still missing in the Matrixgames Library of games?

<t> I would like Matrix to buy the rights to "Kingmaker" covering the Wars of the Roses from Avalon Hill/Hasbro or whoever currently has the rights. The sound and graphics would need to be upgraded but the basic game worked well and probably would not need a lot of reworking. The boardgame also had ...

RE: Royal Navy Ship names

<t> Oilers have their funnel very close to the stern. "Nelson" and "Rodney" had such an odd profile and their funnel so far aft that some used the names "Nelsol" and "Rodnol" in memory of a class of oilers whose names all ended in "ol".<br/>

RE: From the Movie NETWORK "I'm tired of it and I'm not going to take it anymore" ;)

<t> I agree that wargames on varied topics would be welcomed by the hardcore wargaming community. What always seems to be a limiting factor is how many games must be sold to make it economically viable. <br/>

RE: Most dangerous enemy

<t> Germany was much the more dangerous enemy. The Japanese industrial base was puny compared to Germany. The US only applied about 30% of its war production to the Pacific Theater and even this 30% completely overwhelmed the Japanese with ships, airplanes, etc. The Japanese completed very few major ...

RE: Request another honest answer

<t> One thing to remember is that this is supposed to be a GAME. The purpose of a game is to create the feel of the situation without overly burdening the players. EiA as a boardgame did this very well. While some improvements can be made without fundamentally changing the game (such as what ...

RE: Request another honest answer

<t> While the points Didz makes are valid historically, you still have to remember the scale of EiA. When the Army of the North moved out, ALL 10 of its corps would have been in ONE area of the EiA map (Soissons). The Prussian army would probably have had 3 corps in the Namur area and one the the ...

<t> I agree the screenshots are great!<br/>

I also agree that a different shape for corps and garrisons is a good idea. Making corps a little wider (almost square?) would leave more room along the bottom to make what appears to be the movement allowance stand out from the corps name. In the ...

RE: Your First Wargame?

<t> In response to Veldor's question about pink counters, in just about all of the early AH games, one side had blue units and the other had red (pink). This probably came from AH's first game, "Tactics II" which, like "Blitzkreig" was an abstract game between two hypothetical countries called Red ...

RE: Your First Wargame?

My first boardgame was "Bismarck" by Avalon Hill. This was in 1963 (showing my age). I was immediately hooked and wargaming became a lifetime obsession.

My first computer wargame was something called "Torpedo Fire" by SSI for the Apple II+.

RE: What do you want to see next from Matrix?

<t> As far as a strategic Civil War game, since Matrix and ADANAC now have a working relationship, a facelift of Frank Hunter's "Road From Sumter to Appomattox" could produce one rather quickly. It was already a very good game. One suggestion would be to make each hexagon represent a smaller area ...
