Re: World at War 1939-1945 PO Version

I was looking at it. I'm looking forward to it, however long it takes. Godspeed. Perhaps the best help I can offer is no help. Give you space to create. My only expertise is in playing toaw4; which though I've never playtested, I'd be happy to volunteer. I think you have enough experienced ...

Re: World at War 1939-1945 PO Version

I'll give a small glimpse of what the development plans were for TOAW before I started the Hierarchy module. Nine modules planned. We are now seven years into the first one. I don't think the others will each take quite as much time as the first one, but it will be a long project.

This is a ...

Re: World at War 1939-1945 PO Version

Thanks Bob! You've been awesome. And that looks fantastic. I can't wait.

I just had an exchange with CplGAC and I realize: not all players care about large scenarios, or even multiplayer. Their main concern is improving smaller scale battles, however large they may be. I guess this is the ...

Re: World at War 1939-1945 PO Version

My many thanks to Thomas Harvey for this fantastic scenario! If there are any people who really enjoy this scenario like me, I invite you to visit my discord server where we play this with 2 simultaneous instances of the game; one Europe and one Pacific. If you post interest I will send you an invite.

Re: World at War 1939-1945 PO Version

To me, this scenario is the pinnacle of scenarios, and the direction toaw should take. It gives me reason to think an entire Grand Strategy game could be developed from this scenario alone.

Of course it may need a few things like allowing more than 2 players to play pbem at once: some sort of host ...

Re: World at War 1939-1945

Hopefully someone besides myself sees the need for a Grand Strategy version of toaw4.
Capable of MP of more than 2 players. The extent of Economic/Production control is optional.

But certainly strategic warfare: Bombing/Submarine warfare. Submarine warfare should be added. The modders who made WaW ...

Re: Looking for a game

Our Japan player in World at War 1939-1945 has dropped out. If you're interested in picking it up, let me know. I'll send you the save. We're not even in December of 1939 yet.

Otherwise I'm interested in playing more toaw4. Suggest a scenario.

Aircraft equipment data

I don't mean to hijack the section with a suggestion. Remove it if I did. But it would be nice if there were a more accurate attempt at aircraft data. It just seems to me, too many planes are precisely the same strength. This is especially true with anti-ship values. One would think there could be ...

The future of the operational strategy sim

This game is older than the century now, with even TOAW 4 approaching the 10-year mark. Out of curiosity, what does the future for this game look like? What is required? Do you think it will survive? I get the weird feeling that maybe if it doesn't fade into obscurity, TOAW could morph into some ...

Re: What do you think of this idea?

Exactly. And the idea having yet a 3rd tactical level is not overambitious really. What we're talking about is the creation of savefiles in one game that can work as scenario setup files in a different game.

What do you think of this idea?

An idea for wargame came to me, though I doubt ONLY me. The idea would be to have a Grand strategy game, with provinces like say, HOI, that, with every advance, would create(optionally) a savefile for a completely different Operational-level game, played on a hexgrid, setting up an operational ...

Re: New TOAW IV database

I've since given up on this mod, deducing the download is wrong. I changed the filename, everything. I don't expect someone to walk me through it. Thus, I'll leave it at 'looks good'. US starts with old British carrier biplanes in Hawaii.
[EDIT] I very much appreciate the effort to help me resolve ...

Re: New TOAW IV database

Well, when you search your computer for ".eqp", how many files show up and where are they located?

I have a .eqp file for every scenario that required an eqp folder(and they work fine). Apparently Silent Hunter 4 also uses .eqp files, so I have a couple hundred files in my E drive, in my ...

Re: New TOAW IV database

Thank You! I did not know this. Eliminating the folder in my C that I put there drive did not change anything. So what you're saying is I have to reinstall the game? Well I know what NOT to do. I just don't know what TO do.

Hmmm. Is the original .eqp file still in your computer anywhere?

I ...

Re: New TOAW IV database

I tried that. I'll try it again after deleting the file first. Thank you very much. Wait! I have this now in both the game and the my documents file. Do I need that in my documents/my games?

I tried everything. The download must be wrong.

Re: World at War 1939-1945

You would play in one game only. The idea was to reduce the amount of players having to circulate a game file. The Pacific theater was just 1 v 1. Unfortunately, I did not have players that could be expected to move, even within a week. A game this size requires more dedication than that. I mean ...

Re: What music are you listening to now?

When I'm playing I listen to instrumental movie soundtracks: Maurice Jarre, Elmer Bernstein, Alex North, Jerry Goldsmith, Dmittri Tiomkin John Williams, some Debussy, Prokofiev, Eric Satie, Aaron Copeland.
