RE: this game sucks

This game has awesome replayability. I understand that the controls are difficult to learn. Just keep trying, there is not much you can screw up by doing it wrong. Once you get the hang of it, the control interface is really pretty good you can do everything quickly.

RE: What is worth to see in US for average European

Random driving vacations are a great way to see the USA.

All the national parks are great. Whenever you cross a state line on the interstate there will probably be a visitor center at a rest area, stop there and find out about all the local interest sites.

RE: problem opening with Vista, please help

I loaded the game on a new version of vista.

IIRC I had to download a font that was missing in vista. Then everything was fine. You'll have to look through the old threads in the tech support forum to figure out which one.

I don't think multiple engines add speed. You could carry a spare in case the first engine is destroyed, but I don't bother.

I want to respond to a few points.<br/>
<br/>
Training artillery crews doesn't require a new gun for every new crew. Multiple crews can take turns practicing on a single gun. Production is somewhat abstracted. A cannon foundry would work on a longer contract and produce a steady stream ...

I have also had this game for several years. It holds onto its replay value as you say.

The troop types are seperate. You can, however, merge two militia together, which frees up a slot.<br/>
<br/>
IIRC, militias can turn into conscripts by events. I think then you can train conscripts into regulars.

RE: Lots of questions and newbie issues:

Each state will only field so many units. If you buy lots of militia early in the game does this restrict your ability to get regular troops later. Is there a way to disband militia or convert them into regulars?

The problem I'm having is that text is too large and overflows beyond the boxes where it is supposed to be onto other text. I'm running windows vista. I tried setting the compatability mode for AACW to windowsXP, but that did not fix the problem.

Demo time limit

<t> I like the game enough that I've decided to buy it. One concern I have is the demo time limit software. I admit I tried to reinstall the demo and play for another 60 mins, which was not possible. I searched files by time of last modification, and I have narrowed the culprit down to a few files ...

RE: How to play ? (demo game)

<t> I just tried the demo. The control interface was very difficult at first. Even the most basic tasks like moving, fighting, building freighters, adding ship components, etc were counterintuitive. I'm glad the programmers incorporated the shift-click information feature, however the advice often ...

<r> The Churchills would be much better if they had a reverse gear, allowing them to keep their frontal armor facing the enemy at all times. I imagine this is how they were used in real life, unfortunatelly SPWAW doesn't include that feature.<br/>

RE: Is artillery too weak?

<t> Oh my God! I just figured out what Gunny Erwin was talking about with having your mortars within 6 hexes. I'm playing a PBEM USMC v Jap game right now and both of us have light mortars real close to the front line, about 3 hexes. When multiple squads retreat into the same hex I hit 'em with 60's ...
