Sorry - no graphical mods.
Just some extra player made campaigns you can download from these forums. I think there was a database also including the Battletech era mechs.

I looked at the latest update readme file (have been away from game a few months) and the fixes/additions/changes list is staggering

Yes - it's only used as a victory/defeat condition.

I just confirmed it. I created a blank mission map with regular "defeat all" as victory condition. In game, i can still get the E and T hex markers to light up (on same hex in centre of map).
