Re: Combat Mission - A look ahead into the new year

My friends and I have been playing CM PBEM from the beginning, dating back over 20 years. All their WW2 games and even CM Cold War in our opinion do not have air power as a significant factor. For example although the Allies controlled the skies in Normandy, air is not a factor in CMBN. However we t...

CMBN PBEM

My friends and I have been playing the Combat Mission series for 20 years. In the last few days I activated CMBN so I now have it on Steam and still have my Battlefront version. If I buy Battle Pack 2 will the scenarios appear on both versions or only on the Steam version? We play PBEM by either sen...

Re: New mod available - Total Victory Europe 1939

My friend and I were already using one of your graphics mods for the units so I assume this mod will have a different look. I just read your scenario notes and see that a big change is the UK convoy escort starting at 1940. However in my opinion, more is needed to balance the game. My version is 1.0...

Re: New mod available - Total Victory Europe 1939

In Dropbox I see a blue folder called "Total Victory Europe 1939". In this folder there a number of files starting with "ChangeBuild.txt" at the top to "weather.png" at the bottom. The second folder is a while one called "Total Victory Europe 1939 scn" Where i...

New Scenario Pack

I bought CMBN years ago and have all the required packs such as the Commonwealth, battle pack etc. necessary for the latest scenario pack.

My question is, if I purchase the new scenario pack which I believe is on Steam, how or will that work for my Battlefront version of CMBN?

Battlefront Versions of Combat Mission

I have been playing the CM series for 20 years and purchased pretty well all of them from Battlefront. I don't have any Matrix versions. I do not want to play CM through Steam and will continue to play my Battlefront versions PBEM using Dropbox. I was planning to purchase the new scenario pack for C...

Re: And it starts

Looking at the game where the Soviets are close to capturing Vienna I am curious as to what the victory points for the Axis is vs. the Allies. I assume that there is a huge difference in VPs Germany surrenders when all their production centres are captured. If the UK and USA are "blocked" ...

Re: And it starts

My opinion is that with the current state of the 1939 Small Fleet scenario, the Germans will have the game won on points by 1943. The difference in points means the Allies have to invade Europe in the spring/summer of 1943. We found that this resulted in multiple invasions being wiped out or at best...

Re: Are the Soviets too strong!

I am very interested in how your game goes. Maybe post a AAR? My friend and I who are the same skill level have played the 1939 small fleet scenario three times and the Axis have won all three. That said all three were played before the latest changes that were added to help the Russians.

Re: Update Scenario

I installed all the folders and files but after looking at the Soviets using the 1941 and 1942 scenario I don't see any difference in their defense values.
How can I confirm that my game has been updated?

Landing in Normandy

We have finished three 1939 Small Fleet Campaigns and because the Russians are so weak the Allies have invaded western Europe in 1943 in all the games. They have invaded Brittany, Normandy and around Antwerp. Normandy was impossible to hold. For example the Allies had a full strength armour unit in ...

Re: Update Scenario

I want to make sure that I install this update correctly. After clicking on the link provided by Alvaro and downloading I ended up with 21 folders and 12 files.

The files started with Op Barbarossa 1941.scn to Op Bagration 1944.scn

Why the folders?

Re: Update Scenario

Just curious if this change will be in the next update as we debating whether to start another 1939 Small Fleet or wait to see what the comments are as to how it impacts the Soviets to survive and go on the offensive beginning in 1943.

Re: A can't miss game

My friends and I have been playing the CM series since the very beginning, 20 years ago. The CM games are the gold standard when it comes to tactical games. Back then there was one on North Africa. We play them WEGO by PBEM rather than real time. About the only downside is there isn't much in the wa...

Re: Warplan - early review from a new player

War Plan is a great game with some nice features such as interception and supply interdiction making it more than a turn based game. My friend and I completed three 1939 campaign games the last two being the small fleet scenario. We have not yet played with accelerated activation of Soviet corps. To...

Control

I am playing the base game before purchasing a DLC. The DLC that interests me is Allies Victorious as it appears that the included scenarios can be played multiplayer. I have attached a screenshot and if you look at the 3 coastal hexes north of Bayeux they still appear to Axis controlled even though...

Wondering How Long It Takes To Play

I'm wondering how long it takes on average to play the campaign game (1941-45) by PBEM?

I've played the 1939 Small Fleet scenario of War Plan War in Europe to August 1945 PBEM and it took us 10 months. I assume that War in the East 2 would take even longer.

Re: stjeand (Allied) vs MagicMissle (Axis) NO MM for now

Wondering if you guys are still playing this one as there hasn't been an update for 5 days. My friend and I completed three games and all of them were won by the Axis.
Although the accelerated activation of armies is a start I think there has to be some fundamental changes to the eastern front.

Thinking of Buying This

I'm an old boardgamer dating back to the days of Avalon HIll and the Decisive Campaign games look interesting. I always only play single player to learn the game after which I play multiplayer. I assume the PBEM works the same as for War Plan in that it is through the Matrix server. Any comments abo...

Difference Between This and Bulge

Since Decisive Campaigns Battle of the Bulge came out after Barbarossa so does it have some additional or improvements and or additions to the game system? The graphics certainly look better. I am more interested in Barbarossa given that it covers the entire eastern front from 1941-42 as opposed to ...
