RE: New Game?

Looking good! Hopefully next year we'll get to play this game.

After all these years, I still like to play a Hannibal campaign every now and then. And I still find it an awesome game.

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>ORIGINAL: mercenarius<br/> <br/> In practical terms, a Persian player is going to need a different experience in the Administrative Interface. And that probably means deferring the "Anti-Roman" scenarios to some kind of add-on. Not for extra money, but to do justice to the g...

RE: New Game?

<t> That sounds great! Considering that I still play Hannibal every now and then, I imagine getting my money's worth, and then some, from the new game. [:)] <br/> <br/> Speaking of Hannibal, I'd love to see both the First and Second Punic Wars included. Now I understand that you can't exactly have *...

RE: New Game?

Looks very promising! Those different functions seem more complicated than anything in Hannibal. That should be good for replayability!

I noticed you wrote "Functions available to Roman players" - is it very different for non-Roman factions?

RE: New Game?

Still waiting eagerly for this new game.

A while ago I replayed Hannibal and almost managed to capture Rome. It was just as fun as it always is!

Maybe some new screenshots while we wait? :)

RE: Shameless Plug

Yeah, I've also been keeping an eye on this game. It seems to have quite a lot in common with the design of Hannibal; if it plays even half as well, it's going to be a classic. :)

But I'll have to actually play it first before saying more about its features.

RE: Any chance for a Rome/mp expansion after or before your new game?

<r> New game first, please! [:)]<br/> <br/> But when it's finished, I wouldn't mind getting an improved version of Hannibal. It's still one of my all-time favourite computer games and one of those rare titles that I find myself returning to year after year. So if it could be made even better, I'd gl...

<r> I agree that the "Pidgin German" is bad for immersion. If you want to use German in the game, please use the real language. <E>:)</E><br/> <br/> Also the politically correct stuff like AG Farben is unnecessary, unless there's some real legal reason prohibiting the use of the original name. <t> Looks very interesting!<br/> <br/> Since the Battle of Watling Street took place during the Boudicca Rebellion in Britain in AD 60 (or 61), does this mean the game will also have grand campaigns for multiple periods of Roman history?<br/> <br/> In any case, I'm sure this will be a day one purcha...

Okay, thanks for the reply! Glad to hear they haven't ignored the historical realities of that corner of the Eastern front. :)

The Role of Finland

<t> I'm thinking about getting this game; it seems very interesting.<br/> <br/> I have a question regarding the role of the Finnish army in Barbarossa (I couldn't find an existing thread about this). Historically, the Finnish leadership didn't want the army to advance too deep into the Soviet Union,...

<r> Finally some news! <E>:)</E><br/> <br/> The screenshots look great.<br/> <br/> I really hope this new game will keep what IMO are the best parts of Hannibal, ie. an excellent AI and simple but clever rules without excessive micromanagement. RE: Opening strategies

I think this AI has beaten me more times than any other AI in any wargame.

Sometimes everything just goes wrong and your plans collapse completely when the AI does something really nasty, like invading Africa when you least expect it.

This sounds great! [:)]

Maybe you could release a Cold War space race campaign as an expansion pack or something? I'd love to see a modern version of the original BARIS.

Could you reveal anything about the time period of the next game? Republic? Empire? Both?

I hope that was vague enough. [:)]

RE: Still playing this game

<t> Yep, people are waiting. I keep playing Hannibal after all this time, which is rare - not too many games are worth playing year after year. Recently I bought Alea Jacta Est, which is an excellent wargame, though very different from Hannibal. It's great that recently there has been more interest ...
