RE: I came, I saw, I got stabbed

<t> The screen shots here show maybe around 60% of the Helvetii battle map. The maps do vary in size throughout the campaign; many are substantially bigger and one or two (like the Assault of Avaricum) are smaller battles. Also, the size of Ceasar's forces changes dramatically from one battle ...

RE: Not for Me

<t> Sorry to hear of your difficulties, themattcurtis... from reading your post, I feel I might be able to offer one or two tips to help you get over the hump at Thebes: <br/>
<br/>
Firstly, it is IMPERATIVE that your cavalry avoid charging at spear-wielding infantry, even when attacking from the ...

RE: Granicus Strategy

<t> I use basically the same strategy, but with one variation: I place my slingers at a point near the river to the north of the main ford, and my archers to the south so that these units are loosely flanking my infantry lines. I use the height map to find the high ground and station my units there ...

RE: match, anyone???

Aaaaaah!!!! I was defeated!!!!! The hit-and-run tactics of my Theban soldiers were no match for the sheer might of Marathon's macedonian army... although the Thebans believed that victory was assured, Alexander would not be denied!!!! Nice match, M--but our battle is not over!!!!!!![;)]

RE: match, anyone???

<r> I am starting to understand how Alexander the Great must have felt when he conquered the world only to realize in the end that nothing more remained to be conquered... to anyone out there who wants to explore the multiplayer features of TS: ATG and has not had the chance--feel free to drop me an ...

RE: PBEM and more

<t> I am not convinced that a drastic alteration to the game mechanics (eliminating the phase system for example) is really the ultimate answer for implementing PBEM. It's true that a change like that would nicely do away with the necessity of exchanging e-mail for those reaction or reserve phases ...

RE: PBEM and more

<t> hey z1812, thanks for the feedback on the demo... reading this forum I have noticed quite a few posts by a small but resolute group of players who are adamantly in favor of a PBEM system for Tin Soldiers: ATG. The simultaneous turn system of Tin Soldiers could certainly be adapted to accommodate ...

RE: I'm addicted

<t> I like your strategy notes A_Turtle... I have won the battle using a similar strategy, but I think it is riskier to split your army in half as you did than to send flag snatchers to one side and the main Greek force to the other. I would expect a strategy like yours to yield a faster victory if ...

RE: I'm addicted

<t> The most reliable strategy I have discovered for winning the Hydaspes is to use the early turns of the battle to quickly send 5 or so cavalry units supported by slingers along the edge of the mountains toward the east flag, while moving my main force south along the river to the west flag. The ...

RE: Maps

<t> thanks for the feedback, A_Turtle--I am glad you liked (some of) the decorative elements in the game... I am devoting quite a bit of time to making lots of nice-looking (and hopefully miniaturesque) meshes for the next TS title. It seems like most players I have battled with really dig the style ...
