Got the same problem and want the same thing...

You can't specifically tell a carrier to send fighters to you but if there are fighters out there you can tell them to cover you if you radio them.

Carrier? Mine always seem to run into jump gates. Either that or they start off 600 kilos away from everyone else with fighter/bombers only 30 kilos from them...

Can't really comment on hardware but as for a vendor I've used www.newegg.com for a number of years and have always been satisfied with their service and pricing.

There isn't a "mission" you HAVE to complete. The problem is most likely you've simply eliminated all the enemies in that sector so no enemies are coming. Try transferring to another ship.
