I'm not sure where I read this, but I'm sure the hex-scale is equal to 4 km. Hope this is correct, and if so useful.

'F' clears and returns the frontline graphic. 'M' clears all mine hexes. And I do believe 'E' clears strongpoints? I could be wrong about that ...
