RE: The Upcoming Changes to the Mech.exe

<t> I have to say that the massive overuse of smoke as harder-than-hard-cover is what has driven me ( after 10 years or however long it's been since SP1 ) from SP to Combat Mission.<br/>

I find it very difficult to use or get results from historical tactics when the opponent advances behind ...

RE: Using smoke?

IIRC, the red smoke that Capt. Winters throws IS a signal - was it not used so that the other half of the platoon could launch their attack / covering fire ?

RE: Early War German Most-Valuable Vehicles

Very early war I'd have to give a vote for the Pzjg1 - that 47mm ATG on the Pz1 chassis will penetrate most armour that your 37mm wont.

It's fragile like the SdKfz 10/4 mentioned above, but invaluable.

Pz1 MGs are excellent vs infantry though.

RE: assaulting tanks in 8.4 ?

<t> Well, that's good to hear - you have no idea how angry I would get when my opponents' sniper or bailed-crew [X(] would successfully assault a PzIVG [X(]<br/>
<br/>
Btw - is the use of bailed-crew as spotters in PBEM regarded as "gamey" ? I always try to get mine "out of Dodge" as if IRL, but I ...

RE: Is SPWaW the Greatest-Ever Tactical Game?

<t> SPWaW is a great game. I played SP, SP2, SP3 and SPwAW. Something keeps pulling you back - the mark of a great game.<br/>
<br/>
Combat Mission also rocks, but you can't play anything like the numbers of troops in the field in SP.<br/>

RE: Bug in troop cost ( 8.3 ) ??

<t> Yo - please don't think I was knocking any of the people who spent loads of time updating/fixing/improving SPWaW. As a programmer myself, I know all about bugs and the ability to miss them. It's (still) a great game, I enjoy it immensely and I have nothing but respect and thanks for all their ...

Bug in troop cost ( 8.3 ) ??

<t> Hiya folks - not sure if this is a bug, but I was looking through the various troop types of lesser known nations and I came across the following :<br/>
Country : Norway.<br/>
Infantry : SS Nordland Co<br/>
There are 3 options under the infantry selection, <br/>
1) With Rifle, MG34, Hand ...

RE: Can't shift arty fire ?

<t> Thanks for that - doesn't seem to be type specific though - in one of the PBEMs I'm playing, my Wurfrahmen also wouldn't move from its allocated bombardment hex although it wasn't out of contact.<br/>

Can't shift arty fire ?

<t> Has anyone come across the issue with artillery ( mortars in this case ) which claim they cannot shift fire because it's "Out of Range" - even if you're trying to shift the fire closer to them. Also, if you cancel their fire, you can retarget to the hex it just told you was OOR.<br/>

RE: Watching Arty in PBEM replays

<t> Cheers for that - yes, I never have Fast Artillery On if I can help it ( I like to see every last fragment [8D] ), but it seems that my artillery/airstrike that lands at the beginning of the opponent's turn DOESN'T show up in the replay.<br/>

Thanks for that info KG Erwin - didn't mean to come across as stroppy [;)], just that I was also puzzled as your answer wasn't clear.

I'll be sure to check out the Das Reich campaign, thanks for the heads-up.

<t> Hi folks - I've been searching this forum, but haven't spotted anything to do with the problem of not seeing artillery in the Replays.<br/>

It seems that you only get to see the arty that comes in at the end of your opponent's turn, but nothing that came in at the beginning ... or ...
