RE: Windows 10 due next month

I think we've got a year before the early free adoption runs out so no rush. I'll upgrade, but I'll wait half a year for the worst of the bugs and issues to get ironed out. Hopefully witp ae works well.

<t> I drive in and out of a bombing range from time to time for work and I'll see more wildlife in an hour on the bombing range then I will in the 10 hours previous of varied farmland and forested area's. All you gotta do to let nature thrive is severely limit human activity. The occasional bomb is ...

Do S/M/L freighters serve different purposes?

<t> I've gotten far enough into the game now to find out that the only difference between a 300 size frigate and a 300 size destroyer (or any other 300 size warship) is how the AI designs and uses them.<br/>
<br/>
But for player control a size 1000 frigate is going to be exactly the same as a size ...

RE: 2560x1440 resolution issue

<t> I tried to get mine setup for UHD but couldn't get it to work right. At 2560x1440 a chunk of the game was cut off on the left and on the bottom (with both windowed and fullscreen). I tried going with slightly smaller resolutions to see if I could get it to fit but any time I used any resolution ...

RE: Air Transport Operational Losses

<t> edit: I tried the search box at the bottom of the forum and it only returned a handfull of non useful threads, but the search link at the top of the screen had a whole list of threads pertaining to transport losses. A question for alfred: Do you have to manually scroll through the list of all ...

<r> The common knowledge of the forum about 4e bombers mostly consists of a vocal group who complain endlessly about how OP 4e bombers are without anything more then anecdotes and feelings to back up their claims.<br/>

There are and have been endless threads about how OP 4e's are since AE's ...

RE: Semi OT: Is there any Japanese gun camera footage from WWII?

There might have been a purge of information (classified info, records, ect) in the end by the japanese leaders when defeat started to look inevitable which might have included any films.

^speculation on my part without any real evidence

Thanks for the info. And thank you Yaab for the manual page, I don't recall ever noticing that bit of info before [8D].

How long for airgroups to travel to Cape town from Eastern USA?

<t> I'm about to send some airgroups direct from Eastern USA to Cape Town (flying offmap, not packed on a boat) and I got paranoid.<br/>

Anyone know off the top of their head how long it will take them to get there?<br/>

I tried sending em and checking the reinforcements list but ...

RE: Transport planes operational losses

<t> none of the things mentioned in this thread matter much for normal unopposed operation of transport aircraft. In the end no matter what you do, your transport groups will see ops losses that far exceed any other type of aircraft. (if the enemy is capping a base you're trying to transport to/from ...

That's really neat. I wonder if the dolphins were able to "see" it through the mud with their echolocation or if it was exposed.

Nav Search and ASW pilots don't seem to gain skill appreciably while conducting nav search and asw, so I wouldn't count on that.

RE: Optimum training percent

<t> Max your pilots, and also max the airplanes (when possible) in the squadron. It's still useful to train like normal (100%, 10k alt (depending on mission), 0 range, maximum number of pilots), even if you only have 1 or 2 planes, but they won't train as fast. Having a fully equipped squadron will ...

RE: Ships preferring deep water

<t> When you conduct invasions it's useful to have CVE's which don't suffer the base hex penalty of 50% operations (7.2.1.13.2). I dunno if it's covered in the manual and thinking about it now, I dunno where I learned this, but CVE's can operate in base hexes unimpeded by the carrier base hex 50 ...
