RE: Game Impressions

One more item, it would be very nice if you could see the unit initiative in the unit info miniwindow during deployment. Thanks!

Hint vs Indians, timing and picking your fights while keeping firmly to your mission are critical. Good luck, you will need it! [8D]

RE: Indians and such

Alexander defeated the army of the Indians, finally, by grabbing all three flags. The first two are easy, but that last one, whew! I though I waited a turn too late to advance the infantry up the middle, but it worked out. Now on to Bactria!

RE: Indians and such

<t> The last time I played Hydespes I tried sending cavalry down both flanks and refusing the center. I got a few units behind the Indians, but I did not get enough there to defeat their reserve and capture the third flag. I will try it several more times, eventually I should be able to get it to ...

Inquiring minds want to know, who was the lucky bloke that will be graced with the fine Persian army? [X(]

RE: NewBie - Some Questions

No, this is a ladder style campaign, not tree style. Even so I highly recommend this game.

Perhaps in the next game in the series?

RE: Cabbages and Kings

<t> [:D] Those Indians are some tough hombres! The tank analogy fits their elephants really well. One elephant base shoots as well as four bases of my veteran archers, or so it seemed, and there are plenty to go around. I knocked down 6, but I saw two still ravaging my troops. I tried three times ...

I made it through Gaugamela so hopefully I will get to try Hydapse tonight. The Persian elephants were tough, but they were not tanks. We will see how the Indian version fares. [;)]

Scenarios

<t> Any chance w will see a siege scenario in a future relase? It need not be full blown, perhaps knocking open a gate with a battering ram or knocking down a wall or tower with a trebuchet or early cannon/bombard? Hitting the walls with siege towers and ladders could be very exciting too. Ah the ...

<t> More feedback from a turtle. The Gaugamela map seems almost too real looking compared to the units. If you are going to go with a minatures look, carry it though to the scenery props too. On the other hand in this battle the wagons and tents in base camp in this scenario look too simple, almost ...

<t> The first rules set in the land of Crom and Conan that I saw was from the mid 70's. That particular milieue (sp?) would be a fantastic source of material for a series of games or a mod-able game set, but there are IP licensing issues of course. <br/>

RE: Gaza

Well I tried it again and barely eeked out a win, did not hit a single flag but I got the enemy army to break. Its off to Gaugamela plain for some face time with big D. I am sure it will be a challenge. Later.
