RE: AVG

Is there any advantage to changing there command? I moved them to Rangoon and they are doing a great job even though they are still technically under China Command.

Game slow after running a turn

<t> Not always, but often after I run a move it seems that every action starts to have a couple second delay, selecting task forces, moving ships between task forces, even scrolling the map, etc. It’s not a real big deal since if I quit the game and restart, it is back to normal, but I am curious if ...

RE: Ebook software

<t> To play in window mode make a shortcut to your War in the Pacific.exe" file and put a -w on the end of whatever is in the target box. I do it all the time on a laptop that is 1600x1200, so it leaves plenty of room for the manual etc. Once you have the rules down more you can go back to full ...

RE: This can't be happening

It's also nice to be able to turn the sound off if you are at work and just HAVE to make your next move.

RE: Russia First strategy for Japan

<t> From a game standpoint “Russia First” against a computer allied player might work, since I have a feeling the computer will still sit there and not take advantage of a weak Japanese player in the Pacific. But, historically it would have made no sense, for Japan to attack the U.S. and then turn ...

RE: Lost LCUs

<t> In order to rebuild I assume that the parent has to survive. I haven’t tried an evacuation task force yet, but if you use one, do you get the parent or a sub unit?<br/>

How do you evacuate with a submarine? Isn’t an evacuation task force a kind of fast transport task force which doesn’t ...

RE: Loading Aircraft onto Transports ?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but if the transport with the parent gets sunk, what happens to the other two pieces? Does one of them become the parent?

RE: Loading Aircraft onto Transports ?

<t> Sorry, I didn’t have the game running. Yes it is “Load troops” or “Load troops only” not land units. It is explained in 6.1.19 of the E-Manual. Each AK can instantly load one air unit.<br/>

Don’t forget to be sure and have aviation support at the port where you drop them off! All the ...

RE: Low Endurance MSWs

Thanks for the further advice. I completely forgot that they would likely not use their ASW until their experience is higher. I did have a task force with four patrol boats sink a submarine off of Hawaii in the opening days of the war, but maybe that was lucky.

RE: Loading Aircraft onto Transports ?

Select load Land Unit and they will show on the list with the load cost assuming they don’t belong to a restricted HQ like the Dutch.

RE: Low Endurance MSWs

I had the bases all default to off and only turned on the ones that are safe, but it would probably still be more efficient to handle all the convoys manually. I noticed that on the first game I started, all of the auto convoys in the first week of the war were headed to Canada and Alaska!

RE: Low Endurance MSWs

Good idea. I was putting the flush class DDs in San Francisco as escorts, but it is probably better to reverse the role and use them to patrol in ASW task forces and to put the MSWs with high ASW there.

RE: Lost LCUs

<t> Wow. Thanks for the reply. I read through the 220 pages in the manual, but missed that about the HQs. I guess I will need to try and be careful to make sure that all my invasions are going to be a success.<br/>

Lost LCUs

<t> According to the game manual, LCUs that are eliminated are gone for good. Is this true? In PACWAR they would eventually come back but have to be completely rebuilt with new equipment. If it is true what happens if you loose one of your command HQs or an important unit, like one of the marine ...

Low Endurance MSWs

<t> After spending thousands of hours with Pacific War I have finally made the move to War in the Pacific about a week ago. I’m sure glad the 1.3 patch came out while I was only up to December 17th so that starting over isn’t quite as painful, but slogging through the first move again rounding up ...
