Re: Dev Log: Monty's Front--MARKET-GARDEN

Springel, What are your thoughts about the dike and road to Urk Island as interpreted on WDS's Sheldt '44 map? Is this a valid interpretation? https://i.imgur.com/zALjnyT.png This is not a valid representation of the 1944 situation. Instead, it is the situation between October 3, 1939 and December ...

Re: Dev Log: Monty's Front--MARKET-GARDEN

So I’ve got a yes and no answer to my question. I already had the yes and no answer from my own research. The current football position hasn’t been moved past the B-17 photo entered into evidence as a true representation of this terrain. The terrain is either sea, marsh or polder—or a combination o...

Re: Dev Log: Monty's Front--MARKET-GARDEN

Serious question...the area circled in yellow was an area recovered from the ocean commencing 1942. Was this a land space by 1944 or was the draining still in progress? Historical maps are conflicted on the correct answer. https://i.postimg.cc/QdqHBpFT/MG-Area-of-Operations.png The area you circled...

Re: New Forum Tips and Issues

Because of these sticky old posts, I read this forum by opening threads or subforums in a new tab, then I close the tab and I return to the tab from where I started at the same position. In practice I open up all threads that interest me all at once, each in its own tab (hold CTRL while clicking).

Re: Scourge of War Series is discontinued... - ??? AND STEAM

Will these games be available from Norbsoft after 1 Sep? The developer is not planning to continue selling the games or supporting them. I don't know what you based this comment on, but actually they are. https://www.norbsoftdev.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=79917 I read that as they are working at de...

Re: Scourge of War Series is discontinued... - ??? AND STEAM

Why not just be clear about why this series is discontinued? I'm sure there must be a good reason, but on the surface, it just doesn't make any sense. I'm just very baffled about this. They told you: the developers quit. Matrix doesn't want to sell a product when there is nobody to support it. Why ...

Re: Flexibility of the game and editor / future plans

The so called me-ware, an assorted collection of 3rd party tools and custom hacks that works for the single person who put it together, but that will explode in the face of any unprepared user.

Many of the best products in the world have been produced with me-ware.

Computer software can translate without grasping any of the meaning.

Likewise, wargamers can talk about AI.

Re: Economics 101

Physical components are expensive, and you have decide on a production number, and have to keep a physical stock of invested value. If it is a success, you have to produce new print runs, while with a computer game, success will get you extra income with very little extra costs. If it doesn't sell w...

Re: Matrxgames Launcher question

Can confirm this for Star Hammer on Windows 11: an Internet Explorer window popped up, which I had not seen before (version Windows 11 21H2). So the launcher used an IE component for it's ad-panel. That is how I built my desktop applications ten years ago. Little security risk I think, as the links ...

Re: Poll: How Important is Steam to You?

I have bought most of my Matrix/Slitherine games in their store (I have 13 pages of owned games on My Page), but... - The Steam store navigates so much better and quicker, I find the Matrix Store cumbersome, and it often doesn't know what I own already. - On Steam the games are often a bit cheaper. ...

Re: So why didn't you buy?

I didn't buy yet, because the scale is too large for my taste, too much work. But I am fascinated by the system, and follow the stream of Der Hobby General, who plays it for me, while I can relax and watch. But I will almost certainly buy it in the future, at a sale, to express my appreciatio...

Yes, and that is exactly the Fascist principle: the bundle is stronger than the single. Search of dictionary definitions indicate Fascism usually has a dictator... Fascism is in my book the movement in Italy, led by Mussolini. His logo was de fasces, a Roman bundle of rods/arrows/spears that symbol...

Re: Slitherine’s Starship Troopers: Terran Command has landed

Heinlein described a military dictatorship: only soldiers have political power, and only soldiers have citizen's rights. Whether you call it fascism, Verhoeven never used the word in his movie, is up to anyone. I can't see the libertarian side of it, whatever that is. Verhoeven showed us a glorified...
