RE: .exe failure in Vista

<t> Do the system requirements list Vista as a supported platform? The game may not be fully compatible with Vista, although I haven't had problems yet with TGS. Start with the basics. Make sure you're not running any anti-virus programs in the background while you are trying to play the game ...

RE: Start up crash

<t> Does the chipset meet what the game needs though? Most 'integrated' (that is, non-dedicated) video systems lack many of the features needed for gaming (even for games made 3-4 years ago), such as hardware T&L, decent shader support, etc., and lack of dedicated video memory can introduce more ...

Did you have to pay over 50€ because of your local 15%+ (and <B><s></s>rising<e></e></B>, I've heard it's up to 18% and higher now in some places) VAT tax? Are you saying you hold Matrix ...

RE: Crash on launch

<t> &nbsp; 'Better graphics' is a subjective claim that doesn't address technical differences that could cause the problem.&nbsp; But you're right about the specifications, your system should run the game without a problem.&nbsp; So someone who provides support for the game will need to follow up ...

RE: Crash on launch

<t> &nbsp; If the option is even available to disable shader requirements&nbsp;in Starshatter, it would likely have to be done in the configuration files (editing them in notepad).&nbsp; But I don't think you can do this to make the game compatible with old video cards like that.&nbsp; I'm not sure ...

<t> &nbsp; That's why I was referring to the second post.&nbsp; But don't expect a GeForce 2 MX to play too many current games either.&nbsp; You'll either have to turn down the details, disable some, and/or it just won't work because GF2's don't support any pixel shaders.&nbsp; XPS laptops generally ...

RE: Crash on launch

&nbsp; For the second post, it's most likely your video card.&nbsp; Don't expect to play too many games with an Intel graphics system.&nbsp; Integrated (ie not dedicated) video systems generally fail or run very poorly for gaming.

<t> &nbsp; It's most likely something to do with video&nbsp; or other resource problems then.&nbsp; If you're running the 'latest drivers', you might want to try rolling back to an older version that might be more stable.&nbsp; If you're running an AGP at 8X speed, try 4X (not much of a performance ...

RE: Game Freezes

<t> &nbsp; You should never run an anti-virus program in the background while playing a game.&nbsp; They consume resources and can interfere with game operations.&nbsp; In general, you should try to keep background tasks to a minimum while playing any game to improve stability and performance.</t>

Something along the lines of 'A connection can't be established with the server'.  This was with a right click to save the file.  If I left click on it, I get a 'Page not found' error.

Out of curiousity, have you tried changing the refresh rate of your monitor to different settings yet? If so, did the flickering rate change, get better, or get worse?

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>I was just saying it's probably a wee bit too expensive for the average gamer. $130 could buy the three 'sticks i've used over the course of 8 plus years. However, This Guy is pushing it imo. <e>
</e></QUOTE>

<r> HOTAS, Hands-On-Throttle-And-Stick. The Saitek X52 is a good choice, I've used the earlier X series, now this one, and have been happy with them. It's cheap (compared to other HOTAS controllers), optical, reliable, very customizable, programmable, and comfortable. <br/>
