RE: Still hoping to buy this game.

<t> A bit unrelated to the topic, but I was wondering if Max Football is conceived as a game that will have a new version every year or two, like PureSim Baseball, or whether it is offered as a finished game for which only minor, free updates are planned.<br/>
<br/>
I see nothing about the game to ...

RE: Upgrading 2005 to 2007

<t> The "Gold" edition of PS Baseball 2005 went through several major updates after I bought it during the playoffs. There was a big fix released around Thanksgiving and another in mid-December that seemed to solve most problems, but there was a cost: pre-1900 players couldn't be used anymore. Oddly ...

RE: Upgrading 2005 to 2007

<t> I've bought several games from Matrix over the years. They've never tried to sell me a new version of the same game, at least not before PS Baseball.<br/>
<br/>
It's essentially one of those "glass half empty or full" things. I bought a game last fall that seemed very raw -- it didn't "sim ...

RE: Upgrading 2005 to 2007

<t> I bought PS from Matrix during last year's playoffs. It wasn't free.<br/>
<br/>
Looking back, I made a terrible mistake. I should have realized the "year" in the game title meant "annual update", but since the whole thrust of the game seemed to be "buy it once and play the entire history of ...

RE: Upgrading 2005 to 2007

<t> During last year's playoffs, I purchased PS'05. I felt like a beta-tester who had paid for the priviledge, but the updates eventually produced a stable game that worked fairly well.<br/>
<br/>
Now I read that PS'07 is for sale. I cannot imagine that Matrix expects me to pay for this update ...

RE: 1.1a Patch

<t> I have a question about the "sliders". My "dream" is to use these so power hitters in 1905 hit roughly the same number of homers as 1995, so I can run a league from 1901 to the present and have early-year stats be directly comparable to late-year stats.<br/>

I set up a league to begin in ...

RE: 1.1a Patch

<t> I know there may be no other way for you guys to get around this, but it is really tedious to have to find my serial number and re-enter it every time I install a patch or upgrade. I bought PS Baseball during the World Series, and I think I've already had to re-enter the serial number four times ...

Beta 1.3 - invalid use of null

<t> Downloaded beta 1.3 and continued my 1906 season. Year finished fine and went into off-season and had the draft. After finalizing rosters, clicked to "start spring training" and each time I try I get a run-time error 91 ("invalid use of null").<br/>

This repeats even after restart of ...

RE: Beta 1.1 - improvement problem?

<t> To make sure what I posted late last night is clear, let me summarize what seems to be a major problem: Hitters whose initial Contact/Power/Eye ratings are sub-40 when "born" appear to have little or no chance to progress to a MLB-worthy rating, regardless of their Potential rating. Pitchers ...

Beta 1.1 - improvement problem?

<t> I have played 5 seasons of an on-going league using beta 1.1. This was a 16-team league from 1901-1905. Here is some feedback that might be useful:<br/>
<br/>
1. My human team dominated, winning its half of the association 4 of the 5 years. In 1905 the team went 122-39. I suspect the computer ...

RE: General Impressions on the 1.1 Beta

<t> Elsewhere on this board it was reported that Lou Brock was given a 70 speed score in a league begun in 1974, a year in which he actually stole over 100 bases. Weirdness like this is way too common in PureSim when trying to use real players. The impression I have is that this feature -- the ...

RE: General Impressions on the 1.1 Beta

<t> Beta 1.1 does seem like an improvement. But I'm really surprised that PureSim was sold in its "gold" form. There seem to be so many things that needed fixing, and still need fixing, that it seems like we paid for a beta version of the game.<br/>

toggle for lineup and player/pitcher box

You mention there is a way to keep these "always" on the screen (so they don't disappear after a new pitcher is brought in, etc. Where/How do you change this setting?

RE: strategy options

<t> I know part of your design model is to "hide" what's really happening from the players. But here are my points:<br/>
<br/>
1. Certain players are "known" to be good at bunting or H&R. Some players never bunt. There should be some sense of what rating matters in these strategy options, or ...

Beta 1.1 bug; suggestion

<t> I tried managing in playoffs (usually I just quickplay the games). Several issues:<br/>
<br/>
1. Bottom left & bottom right are the batter and pitcher boxes. Frequently these indicate the incorrect "hand" for the player. This is the main "bug."<br/>
<br/>
2. During one game, my lineup box ...

Runtime Error 3021

<t> I've been trying to start a league in 1871 using historical players. 1 League, 3 Divisions, 12 Teams. Year is not appended to name; 4-man rotations. Using 1.1 beta software on Windown XP.<br/>

RE: Improving the Real Player Experience in PureSim

<t> The way I would like to be able to use PureSim is to create a league along these lines:<br/>
<br/>
1. Seed a league with real players in 1900.<br/>
<br/>
2. Play a season, and then move on to 1901, using real players from 1901.<br/>
<br/>
3. Repeat until 2005 season is finished.<br/>
