Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I decided to attack Guadalcanal and I'll at least get an ideal what I'm facing there. This is my second attack. In the first attack I managed to move the Jap engineer unit out of the port hex and get my units ashore. Now I'm hoping to gain Henderson Field.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

This is the Chinese situation near Naning right now. My front lines are working so far but they won't hold for long. I'm hoping my partisan unit can cut the road to Hon Gay which will cut off supplies to the Jap units further north. Maybe I can overrun an airfield as well.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I moved a couple of Phil. Infantry Divisions from Mandanao and I tried to move one from Legaspi ( the southern tip of the Manila island ) but it was sunk in three strikes from the 1st Air Bde, of the 44th Air Regmt Bmb group of the Jap air forces. I did a save game and advanced to the next turn so I ...

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

The Japs have some engineers handy so they could cross the Sittang River at any point so I'll need some way to cover the banks up to at least Toungoo and move the aircraft there to somewhere else but still near by if possible. The defenders of the road NE of Rangoon look like they may not be able to ...

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

On the northern coast of Malaya I've arranged the Indian units into a sort of front line just west of Singora . It may hold for a turn or two. There are more units further south near Kota Bharu but they are in reorg and can't move this turn. Lots of empty ports that I can't do anything about.

Here's how the Communist Chinese are doing. Notice in the four blue dots leading away from fight, they are headed to Peking to see if they can cause a crisis of some kind.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

Ok, I've moved everybody that can in this AO so this is what it looks like in the Hong Kong area. The Japs are pressing hard and the Chinese units are disappearing faster than a Russian journalist. I'll eventually have to fall back to make a better front line in better terrain.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

This is the beginning of T4 before I've moved anybody. Um, I started to annotate a map of the situation with what's where but it started to look a bit busy and difficult to understand so I thought I'd take a more zoomed in approach. I've listed the unit(s) that that location just below the name for ...

This is the situation on the southern China front. I've got a partisan into the Hanoi area breaking bridges and generally being a nusance. I wonder what the PO will do about it.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I was moving a large stack of American units from Pearl to the South Pacific and got intercepted by the Jap aircraft from Truk and it completely devastated me completely. I decided to change my routing further south but still got hit a couple more times. I'm more careful now.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I was able to push the Jap paratrooper out of the way off the road and I ran out of MP's. It blocks the road and gives me one more chance to block the Jap column headed to Rangoon. I broke the bridge to help out a little bit.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I lost 1 PBY at Atka but I got my recon report of the Jap unit at Andreauof Islands. It's a pushover with the application of enough amphibious troops. With some ship help maybe.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

This is the zoomed out view of the situation in China. As you can see I have a line of fresh troops approaching from Kweingyang headed south toward Kunging. I think I can use them to fill in the front line.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I'm having a problem in the north but I've managed to form a sortof front line for most of the rest of it. These are all Communist Chinese which is a little better soldier than the regular Chinese but not by much. I'm trying to break all the bridges the Japs will need to get further into China ...

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I executed all the attacks and the game went immediately to the Jap side and I didn't get control until my turn started. I was able to disband most of the Phillippine units ( all except the one that is Rioting ) and I debated whether to disband the American units but their proficiency is a lot ...

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

The US Navy lost 4 of their best BB 's during the T1 Jap Strike on Pearl . But the good news is that we still have our CV 's. The British ships are in reorg and can't move. Several US DD 's are in reorg and can't move either. My attacks are scheduled so the next thing is execute them.

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I noticed that neither the Americans nor the Japs had any sea cap. so I decided to mod the scenario to give the Japs 40K sea cap. and the Americans 45K sea cap.

And then I started over the scenario. This is what ended up at Manila . The Japs also cleared Corregido while they were at it. The Japs ...

Re: WW2 Grand Strategy Question SEA BASING - Pacific At War PO Version

I moved all the CV's I own to Esprito Santo for backup incase my ships get ambushed at Guadalcanal after their strikes. I expect some kind of Jap response and I'd like more firepower at hand just in case. That includes the Yorktown, Enterprise, and the Lexington.
