Looking for a game

I'm looking for a PBEM game, either side.

Any leader settings is fine. I do prefer the corp sub-commander rule, but I'm not picky.

RE: Thoughts on the (un)success of CotA (long)

<t> I'll throw in my two cents here.<br/>
First of all, I want to say&nbsp; kudos to Panther Games for producing a great product.&nbsp; I have been very impressed. <br/>
In a game sense or in the sense of being a quantum leap I feel its tremendously successful.&nbsp; I just started playing a ...

update

<t> I remember the Quake thing, something about buffering mouse events?<br/>
<br/>
Anyway, I thought I'd post a little update.<br/>
<br/>
I've rewritten GetAsyncKeyState the way I think it should work and have done some testing. TOAWIII works great so far (I've played several turns of Two Weeks ...

RE: technical details

<t> Sorry, I wasn't thinking that explanation through very well.<br/>
I was kind of in a hurry.<br/>
<br/>
I was originally thinking about some window message was not being processed correctly and kind of jamming things up, but the explanation is probably much simpler than that.<br/>

technical details

<r> Here is what I believe is happening with the buttons in TOAW hanging the program when you click on them.<br/>
<br/>
I think the code is something like:<br/>
//click mouse on button<br/>
//draw the button depressed<br/>
GetAsyncKeyState(LEFT MOUSE BUTTON); //we loop until this tells us the ...

RE: So close yet so far

<t> Alright, here's the deal with TOAW III & wine support.<br/>
<br/>
The problem is the buttons for loading a save, starting a new game, etc. Any button of that style will hang the program if pressed.<br/>
I have located and confirmed what the problem is. Its an issue with the GetAsyncKeyState ...

RE: So close yet so far

Never mind. It worked in Windows if I specified the full path to the .SAL file, i.e.
"C:\Matrix Games\ . . . . \test.SAL".

Yes TOAW 3 is a giant amongst wargames in that it allows you to give it a filename as an argument! Something so totally obvious yet virtually nobody else does it. Go figure ...<br/>

So close yet so far

<t> I gave it a whirl last night. <br/>
The install came off without a hitch, and opart 3.exe will come up to the first screen. <br/>
There's a problem with the buttons (start a new scenario, etc.) though. Whenever a button is pressed, the program hangs. <br/>
The menus work fine (File, etc.) but ...

Wine

<t> I don't know if this belongs in general or support, but I'm putting it here 'cause it has nothing to do with any official support issue.<br/>
<br/>
Has anybody had any luck getting TOAW III running in Linux under Wine?<br/>
<br/>
I've got the game on Windows (dual-boot) but I'm primarily a ...

RE: Any way to combat Waste ?

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>Maybe the problem isn't waste itself, but the lack of documentation in the manual about waste. I can accept if half my economy is lost to waste, if only I'm told what will cause waste and what can (or can't) be done about it. As it is now, I have no idea whether waste is ...

<t> I just want to point out a couple of things to those concerned that new wargamers won't be brought into the hobby unless these games are available in retail.<br/>

RE: Matrix and no shop sales policy

<t> I just want to say, as a loyal customer of matrix who has bought and enjoyed several games via DD - I love it. I can order the game, download it and be playing it in a few minutes. These are niche games - they are never going to have the base to be in Walmart or EB which are the only outlets ...

RE: economy reports make no sense

<t> Just a quick clarification:<br/>
I was playing Prussia from the beginning setup in 1805. I don't remember exactly how many provinces Prussia has at start but its not 18. I did nothing but adjust labor allocation per Raleigh's suggestions.<br/>

The 66% waste on textiles kicked on from ...

economy reports make no sense

<t> First of all, I want to thank the devs. This is a very ambitious project and I'm sure a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into it. I think if some of the issues that are bothering me and I'm sure a lot of players are resolved that there is definite classic potential in this game.<br/>
