Yes, thank you. I had also found this thread: [SOLVED]Can't see ships/ buildings/ empire influence - 12/6/2014 4:28:52 PM, which gives the same solution...and it worked!

Agree completely

Maintence costs need to be much higher for everything, especially big ships.

Should be some limited and strategically important resources.
