land unit toe upgrade

Post by jcjordan »

What are the triggering factors for a land unit toe upgrade? I've got a unit in Perth w/ 40k supply & says it can upgrade but it hasn't for several turns. What am I missing, does it need all the devices to be available in the pool should it understrength before it'll upgrade or does it need a command lvl hq? It's the 8th Aust Div attached to SWPac which is in PM but there's the III Aust Corp in Perth so there is a HQ just not a command HQ. I looked around the manual but nothing came up that might answer but may not have used right search, any help appreciated.

I believe there has to be a command HQ in the hex and the unit must be at rest.

Devices in the pool aren´t needed for the TOE upgrade (they are needed for the device upgrades though). Not sure you need to have the HQ in the hex or if it´s enough if it´s in range.

Andy, is it only rest mode, or do you have to have a command HQ near or in the hex?

near or in range? I know that having a unit in rest mode somewhere far off any HQs never upgrades it´s TOE, therefor I usually moved such a unit to a location where a command HQ was but never tried to just get it into range so I don´t know if that would work too.

I think it only has to be in range of its assigned HQ based on anecdotal evidence in my games. Cant proove 100% though.

I've had it in rest mode so it could get more replacements since it was built from just the OZ bird battalions so is it needing a command HQ or be assigned to whatever hq is in hex? I'd hate to have to pay PP again to change it's hq but I can move it to Sydney where a command HQ is though it's not in it's listed hq chain (Australia Command)

From my experience:

- Unit in rest Mode
- Must be in base hex
- Must be in command radius of direct assigned HQ (or top level HQ maybe).

Still trying to work out all the combinations.
