Resizing V1041106d

Post by Cad908 »

Just loaded the newest beta patch, when my carrier group arrived at Manus to refuel, all the groups resized. Turn is December 11, 1943 and the Jan 1, 1944 resizing of the fighter and bomber groups triggered and the 1945 resizing of the torpedo groups also resized.

Save to follow.

I have actually found another timing issue that can trigger the change too early.

It was hidden until I fixed the last bug in the re-size code.

Added a fix here

No this is a fix to that particular problem if anyone wants to try it.

It will become official later.

Michael,

Normally when I install a beta patch, I will keep a rolling backlog of saves for five turns. Naturally, this time I was distracted by something and did not. Anyway, the carries were in Manus refueling when I installed the patch, so I do not know if it would have mattered. It took me a couple of turns to recognize the changes.

I installed the new exe, and when I toggle an airgroup to resize, I get this screen. It looks like a great new option to me, to designate the groups resize. The carrier groups retained their Jan 1944 resizes, though it hardly matters. I am in a AI test game, lots of fun, but no real competitive issues.

Thanks

That is now an option if there is no designated sequence of size changes.
If you tried a save from before 11 Dec, it should not use up the last re-size value (01/44 one).

I dropped in the last option (setting own size) as a final solution to the various questions on how/what the changes are.

Yes, I just had the same experience. 12/42 and all my fighter groups resized to 40 and my avengers to 18. '

Not that I am complaining, mind you.....[;)]

It just does not seem right.

I too had all my air groups resize to the 1944 sizes. I'm not sure I understand Cad908's report - Will this patch set them back to the appropriate size for the current date of the game?

I'm in January 1942, docked my CVs in Auckland for minor repairs and my airgroups resized to the 1943 sizes!  One of the SBD groups should disband, but not for another year.  Do I just leave it on shore and carry on?

I keep one week of saves in case of problems such as the resize.  I applied the fix above and just reran the turn and the squadron didn't resize.

Michael there is another resize in 45, when the VBF's are put on most of the USN CV's.
