Yey! Finland Surrenders (Jan 42)

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Yey! Finland Surrenders (Jan 42)

Post by jomni »

In my Soviet GC game vs AI Normal, Finland surrenders in Jan 42. This is because the Axis was not able to capture 3 significant cities outside Leningrad (It's in the manual).

Now with this front gone, I can move all the 3 Armies guarding it to other more active fronts. But I feel that this is a significant advantage and that we should at least have a game mechanic to force the Soviet player to keep some troops in the Finnish border when this happens. Is is there something in place already?

The AI didn't do its homework and the Finns waved the Axis goodbye. I don't see the reason for such "balancing": looks like the AI didn't read the manual and didn't commit in enough force to keep Finns' faith in Axis victory.

How did the Axis AI manage to not hold both Narva and Pskov by Jan 42? Did you kick it out from both cities during your Winter offensives?

Yup. Kicked them out really bad out of Pskov. 1st and 2nd Shock Armies are in the area.

The Axis-side players must be hating these dice rolls that eliminate allies.
