OK, this is an old one, but I'm going to enter it in the Tech Support forum as a bug, despite it quite likely "working as designed". I think the design needs to be changed!

issue:
Every time I click on something in DW, I get an audible "bleep" or "click". This is despite my having audio settings set to zero (or as far as the sliders allow).

expected result:
I should get no clicks if I have the audio turned off, from any source.

suggested fix:
Set the mouse click audio to use the configuration volume setting.

You probably know this.

Have you tried muting the music in the speakers/volume controller at the bottom right of the screen

Here you can select DW to mute only and play your music etc with other programs

I havent tried it but it should work I guess

I'm not sure what you mean - Windows only allows me to control the sound output of the device as a unit, not the output of the device per program.

I've included a screenshot of the volume controller. In the bottom right I have highlighted the volume controller in red.

Right click it, open volume mixer

and then you can mute DW only

I had to underline

You probably know this.

I thought a computer programmer would know the Windows tricks.[;)]

Glad I could be of some help.

I hate to disappoint! I'm a systems programmer - I'm usually working with code and MFC, so my "user knowledge" of Windows 7 is kind of limited. I probably know distressingly less than the average help-desk bod where tinkering with Windows is concerned.

Btw, is this available for vista/win 7 only? I ask because I'm still on XP and have not seen this.

After a quick internet search it appears not to be available on XP.

There are some workarounds available though, try a search if your really interested.
