[WAD] Weapons Hold Bug? (SR4)

Post by Excroat3 »

Hi,

I was playing Reserves to the Rescue, 1981, and I saw that in a cap mission, my planes were identifying enemy targets and then flying away. When I manually ordered them to engage, they wouldn't fire. I tried to manually allocate missiles, and I got the message that they are ok to fire, but doctrine is WEAPONS HOLD. I checked the setting for the group, and everything is WEAPONS TIGHT. I then changed the air doctrine to WEAPONS FREE, and they still won't fire. Am I doing something wrong here? Can someone take a look at this? All you need to do is open the save and observe the dogfight happening between the Soviet jet and the 2 Crusaders. I unassigned them from the CAP mission and tried to get them to attack on their own, no luck. I don't think the Soviet jet is firing either, because it must have had a open shot by now. I am running the most recent patch (SR4 I think?)

I reported exactly the same problem in this scenario under "ASW assets not attacking sub, just circling around it" thread.
Set the WRA settings to "free" and press the "reset affected units" button on the bottom of the WRA page to fix this issue....

You only use this button very incidentally to fix just this type of problem and I had frankly forgotten it was there only to remembered it again after posting my issue....

Yeah I just read your post after I posted mine haha. Thanks for the tip! I wonder if what is happening to us in this scenario is happening to any other scenarios as well...

Hi Guys

Sending a note in. It looks like inheritance is breaking.

So is the "reset affected units" a valid work around while we wait for a fix?

Thanks

The WCS seems to work just fine. It inherits via unit-group-mission-side, and the WCS for the units is set to HOLD so that's what the sim uses.

If you reset the doctrine for the units, or change the WCS to inherit, the units will fire their weapons [8D]

It seems weird that the scen author has decided to set the WCS for all units on unit-level. Perhaps the scen author should be contacted?

Well glad the hear and the work around seems to be one or two buttons regardless.
