PL-7 AAM

Post by BDukes »

Can anybodies find picture of PL-7 missile on PLAAF or PLANAF aircrafts? Chinese source say these export and airshow only due to poor performance compared to PL-5 variants. Can people's confirm, deny, etc. Need find info before add to DB fix list.

Thank

The PL-7 was only used in the F-7M export fighter. The PLAAF stuck with the PL-5 and their upgrade program, while waiting for the PL-8.

Yeah, the Chinese Baike page has a short developmental schedule, while the mil-sina page offers a glimpse about the reason for its export only status, which was the acquisition of the Phyton-3 technology from Israel, which is superior to the R550 Magic-II.
