Flak and artillery display bug

Post by Yaab »

Start GC scenario as Allies.

Go to Chungking.

This is how Chungking looks like on Dec7,1941, scen 100

Image

It has:

15 Engineers
0 Engineer Vehicle
171 Artillery
15 Flak

Now, divide a Chinese Infantry corps into ABC in Chungking.

Now, Chungking screen looks like this.

Image

Arty and flak values dropped to zero. Actually, EVERY SINGLE BASE on the map has its arty/flak values reduced to zero.

Rebuilding the divided infantry corps does not make the values revert to the correct ones.

The effect lasts for the entire turn, and fixes itself at the start of next turn.

I am posting the bug here, beacuse you may be mislead planning your turn, thinking your bases need more flak and arty.

EDIT: This is a variation of 2014 flak/arty bug, which behaved the same way, but involed LCUs. The bug was fixed in one of the patches released in 2014.

There are many things like this that resolve with the end of the turn. Sometimes you may land troops at a base and the first turn after they have landed a mouseover reveals no units. If you happen to know the unit designations you can go at them that way and you'll find they are indeed present at that base. Also, on the first turn after you've increased an airbase to level eight, the doubling of the air engineering support will not appear, but always does on the next turn. Sometimes a fragment of a squadron will show there is no commander assigned even though when you go to the aircrews you will see that there is indeed a commander assigned from one of the aircrews. When I see that with a complete squadron with no fragments, and because I loathe flying commanders, I replace the commander or the apparent lack of a commander with a good commander who is a desk jockey.

Another thing that can happen is unintended filtering. For example, if I go to the button with the red flag at the top of the screen and display all the LCUs, then filter out nationalities or LCU types I do not wish to look at for now, I need to remember to cancel the filtering when I return to the map or the LCUs filtered will not be shown on the map! They will show if you click directly on a base and the LCU icon, but not on rollovers or lists.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well, but have ignored it. I don't know what effects it has on combat resolution, if any.

Probably will fix it next turn or two. Need time to set it up, readiness probably dropped to zero then need time to set it up, etc.
