[Logged] Path changes suddenly

Post by morphin »

I plot a path (Stright line) and a few seconds after it changes (ploted lines)

It is a path for a ship and the path is only in deep water. How to stop this?
That's really angry

I have resinstalled the newest Version. That didn't help. Then i deleted the command.ini and this worked.
So there is some settings that you can configure that missed up the navigation

Maybe under General in Game Options the fine-grained navigation was set to something other than default? Wiping the ini wiped the pickyness that was picking up an undefined or "land" defined pixel or whatever thing they use to evaluate in the layer.

I have set under general different values for fine-grained navigation, but i also set the defaults again. But the defaults value did not the trick. The only thing that works was deleting the ini file

As the devs ask before posting a tech support forum, can you post a save where the issue is occurring? It has to be zipped.

Actually every TG has plotted lines (instead of direct line)

For Example A 836 HNLMS Amsterdam south of England.

(Maybe you have to use my config File)

I was looking at Nimitz and it had a dotted line until I hit start and it went away. It might have something to do with the exclusion zone. (nevermind...was thinking of no nav zones.)

If its your config file, then its a problem with how you are set up. Not sure anyone wants to start throwing random ini files around.

Just a wild guess here. But if you read the section on fine-grained navigation, you'll see the CPU-intensiveness of navigation. If you combine that with the very large scenario, massive number of sonabouys, specifics of your PC, you might be seeing the game having to take some time to plot a course. The dotted line means that the game's navigator is working on the final plat, I think.

I have a pretty powerful laptop and have seen this now and then in very intensive scenarios with a lot of exclusion and no-nav zones. It usually only happens around weird no-nav zones or complex land masses.

Thanks! I see it with a couple.

If I replot with nothing crossing the overlapping nav zones it work fine and everything speed back up. So for now I'd just shorten any courses and don't cross any. Maybe ask Bart to not do the overlapping thing and just draw big zones from right-side over. Maybe nav code can only deal with so much etc? Definitely report though! This might be good problem for dev to solve.

Thank!

Same powerful desktop and as I replot with nothing crossing nav zones so replots clear. It resolves. This ok for him to expect to work and he's not doing anything necessarily wrong.

If i delete the config file and replot then it is ok for a while. Then after playing a while then suddenly a lot of paths are dotted again. So it has definitely something to do with the config file

I Channge only a few things in the fresh config file like Map symbol.

I have also regularly memory exception (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... g&#4912316) on my system. It is more often in big scenarios Maybe this is interrelated things.
Maybe storing big save files (and config File) make some corruption.
(I often save files, normally autosave i disable and save every minute playing time). I think i disable autosave again and test if this works better

"I have also regularly memory exception"

I think you might have answered your own question. Posting your PC specs might help get some suggestions on how to approach it.

I also suspect that changing the ini file itself isn't fixing the issue. Its shutting down CMO now and then thats clearing the memory. Eventually, as the you restart, its getting filled up again. Just a layman's guess.

X570 Aurous Pro, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 32GB Memory

I have maybe not expressed right. CMANO has Out of emory exception and that is probably related to how the Game handles Stream Data(Stringbuilder) (See my previous link).
I have no acccess to the source Code of CMANO and i have programming knowledge but only my friend would had enough knowledge to do reverse engineering. And i think the developers has enough knowledge to solve the out of Memory Exceptions.

see the exception log.

Its happening here to a lesser degree so its a problem with scenario. What happens if you delete the nav zones that cross the North Atlantic all together?

As far as your exception it look like Rory logged and is investigating. In the meantime is Windows and your video card driver updated to the latest?
