JD,

Where I live the HD Channels on my cable service come at no additional cost.

For me they are easier on my eyes and I really dislike having to watch non-HD channels now a days, especially for any sporting event.

I’ve watched a few Blu-ray films as I have a PS3, and yes the picture quality is sharper and better than DVD. Obviously I did not buy a PS3 to watch Blu-ray, and I can’t really justify buying a Blu-ray player just for added picture quality it gives. It’s nice but it's a luxury.

Same for HD channels. I use Sky for my sport fix and did look at getting Sky+ HD but the extra cost was too much. And given the current state of English cricket, watching the upcoming Ashes series in HD might not be pleasant viewing anyway…

It kind of reminds me of the Persil washing powder ads...20 years ago it got your whites whiter than white. Now if there was such a thing as whiter than white, then there's a slogan for their ad campaign. But now, they are saying it gets them even whiter...and the question is, how much whiter do you need white?

Flipperwash, I was having a pop at anyone but the corporates and their selling tactics. I genuinely (and I'm not just saying it) see very little if any difference between HD and normal digital TV. Or perhaps I should correct myself....I saw a difference when he switched the channels, but I wasn't blown from my seat with the quality. UNlike kitting my house out with a 42" LCD/plasma, £150 for a bluray player and £20 per bluray disk...now that WOULD blow me from my seat.
