yeah but I might be willing to give it a shot maby if Sid M designed it but he qould never allow a game of his to be published by this company. I agree with you about Firaxis as a company.

RE: Civ 5
Ideally, what they would do is scrap the whole combat system, and just evolve something similar to Western Civilization Games Forge of Freedom and Crown of Glory -- you move containers around on the map, and then play a to scale battle on a random hex map.
Much like they did Master of Magic and made it the great game that it is. Since there is no magic in Civilization I guess a simple tactical game wouldn't do as it would be much like it already is. Run two units together and let god sort them out who wins. Civ is already a long drawn out game though I can only imagine how long it would take to play a game out with turn based tactical battles. Now using something like the Mad Minute combat engine would definitely spark my eyes towards it, but, not the Total War combat engine because that ai is just a plain brain fart of an ai.

do you want to do everyone a favour and adjust your sig? It's downright bad taste to name specific people in your derogatory sig. They are not trolls (no more so than anyone else who has little digs, yourself included) and by the mere fact that you have named them in your sig makes every single post of yours a troll post!
I'm not telling you to do it. I have no authority here and I am not a mod, but in light of the normally excellent behaviour of the many people we have on these boards, I think you should.
Someone else I knew [;)] did the same thing and he had to change it - I don't see why the system will be changed for yourself...do you?

If it ain't go Sid M its not the REAL thing. I will give it a look however slim the chance it will be on par with Sid M, but I doubt it
I don't think he's actually designed anything himself since Gettysburg, has he? Sid didn't even do Civ 2 himself, let alone 3 and 4. So does it really matter what the name on the box is?

Every game he deleveops seems to be an offshoot of the Civilisation series.
Hmm...
Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon
Sid Meier's Pirates
Sid Meier's Civilization
Sid Meier's Silent Service (i loved SSII, the documentation was rather like a book than a manual, massive thing)
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Sid Meier's Sim Golf
Sid Meier's Gunship
Sid Meier's F-15 Strike Eagle
Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Sid Meier's Antietam
Sid Meier's Red Storm Rising.... and other games,
but yes, he put his teeth in the Civ series, for sure. Maybe 'coz it's the most successful brand he has. [:)]
I can not recall any game that Firaxis has done in that past three years that does not use the Civ engine (I can not comment on Pirates because I never played it).

Let's see now what did the above post have to do with the topic? And what does the definition of troll say? Do I need to add yet another name to my sig? [:D] You see how "you" threw the whole topic off topic? Well, a troll wouldn't of course. [:'(]

Oh this might be a glorious year. The Civ serious is one of those rare series that just won't let go of a player. Like SPWAW, WITP and a couple other games, Civ games have never left my computers. Can't wait.
Have played them all since Civ I but only Civ IV/BTS remains on the hard drive.
One of the most addictive games for my simple gaming skills.

And yet another troll post by the would be moderator Judge Dredd. You might make sure you report yourself for impersonating a moderator and telling others what they can and can't say here as well. No wait let me have the honors of doing that troll. [:D][:'(]
RE: Civ 5
Ppl from Scotland can defend themselfs [:D], but you should tone it down, killroy, really.
I don't know what your problem is, but you're collecting more troll-points than anyone else here, right now.
Judge asked you to drop the sig in a polite manner, actually, he didn't impersonate anyone or anything.
Use some common sense, read the forum rules, and then you'll know what's appropriate and what not:

Yep and now You are violating those rules Goodguy. Better read the part about going off topic in threads on purpose as you and Judge Dredd have clearly done. Now you become the troll. You see it "DOES NOT" encourage futher discussion as I can clearly see you and Judge Dreed are not doing. All you are doing is trolling this thread and taking it off topic time after time. Thus causing myself to take it off topic as well. I suggest you cease and desist and let the forum admins make the decisions of what other members should and shouldn't do..k? K!
You violated rule 5 by angering another participant on this message board because you deliberately posted it. Thus you are trolling. [:D] Judge Dredd did the same thing. He deliberately angered another participant by going off topic in this thread about my sig As my sig is not a post it is a sig. [:'(] I suggest you follow the forum rules yourself and remove the beam from your own eyes before trying to remove the splinter from mine.[:D]

It still amazes me how disrespectful people are on the internet--something that would never be tolerated in person without a foot up one's ass.

RE: Civ 5
Until there is more known about the game changes, the combat will remain somewhat a mystery. However looking at the screen shots and knowing that artillery will have a range to fire over several tiles, I suspect that the combat will resemble Panzer General or Fantasy Wars style combat. I think that alone would make the combat more strategic and fun than the current model of killer stacks.
RE: Civ 5
While I'll be adopting a "wait and see" policy (as many here seem to already be doing), I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this. I've actually not played any of the previous Civ titles (shame! I know), but this one looks interesting.

RE: Civ 5
The problem is, Sid Meier seems to always take one step forward, and two steps back. The Resource thing as implemented in Civ III was a good step forward, but it was handled so retardedly -- Coal and Iron are some of the most prolific materials on earth, so they should show up in much greater frequency than they did in the stock game. What I always did with my Civ III was I modded the frequency certain resources appeared at; and it dramatically improved my game.

RE: Civ 5
Well, in the last 20 years I have yet to be disappointed by a Civ game. I will be picking this up on release day. I can't wait! Woot!
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!
Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!

Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!

Killroyishere,
Judge was right - your anti-trolling sig ends up in fact being trolling as when you name other users as trolls (and are not a mod) that constitutes a personal attack. Please change your sig at your next login to remove any user names.
