I have been a huge fan of Combat Mission: Barbarossa To Berlin. Can anyone please suggest some similar games?

Thanks

I'm a big fan of CMBB, CMBO and CMAK.

Have you checked out the other Combat Mission titles available here? Combat Mission Red Thunder is the successor to CMBB.

I wanted to try Red Thunder but read a bad review. Here is part of what he said. Let me know if that was your experience:

"I must however warn of "Red Thunder" - it has a major flaw in it's simulation. And that is the USSR's spotting performance compared with German spotting performance, especially with tanks. Historically, German tanks even into 1944-45 had much better technology, especially optics, and generally performed much better on a vehicle-to-vehicle-basis compared with Soviet vehicles. The Soviets didn't lose about 1000 tanks in the Battle for Berlin alone for no reason.

In Red Thunder however, the Soviets always have the upper hand. I played several scenarios where German tanks where in absolutely superior positions, with better concealment, cover and spotting and just got wiped out with no losses to the Soviets. These outcomes were so consistent that I had to conclude that it must be an error in the simulation."

All the current CM games use the same engine and I have been playing them all since release and still play them regularly.

Spotting is never perfect in any game, but it is quite realistic in CM. Just as in real life, there are times that unusual things happen.

For every complaint about my unit couldn't see unit X and should have, sighting is perfectly normal an order of magnitude more often.

There are plenty of accounts in WW2 combat of troops and vehicles failing to spot seemingly obvious enemies and that will occasionally happen in game for various reasons.

RT is my favorite of all the CM modules because of my interest in the Eastern Front, but it has a tremendous number of community made scenarios, campaigns, mods, and so on, so you if buy it, you'll be enjoying it for a long, long time.

Combat Mission Red Thunder covers a very limited time period. Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin covers a much broader time period. That's why I prefer it to Red Thunder. Spotting...never had a problem.

I have played CM2 a bit. Gunner, HEAT, PC! is something different, but you might want to check it out.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I have read similar reviews about Red Thunder, and to be honest, I understand them. I have also noticed that Soviet tanks sometimes spot the enemy too easily, even when the Germans should have an advantage in terms of technology or position. But I’m not sure it’s always a bug in the simulation — maybe the developers tried to balance the game or based it on their own sources.
