Some elements with ar:need are not produced

Post by Stamb »

This unit is missing 5 305mm skoda hotwizers

In production screen we can see that it has ar:need

Which accoring to the manual:
If the description is ‘ar:need’ then production will vary
according to demand and how many of that item are
already in the pool.

But it is not builing even if some units needs it. This is done on purpose that if some of that super heavy artillery is destroyed then it is gone forever?

I asked that in the past and now it is clear!

They've a production of -1. As per they cannot be produced.

These massive guns are vestige of WW1, pratically not anymore produced. Or simply too expensive to be produced on a weekly basis.
In fact there are some 600mm that will come as reinforcement later on.

They're one shot marvels, pretty much and once spent, they're gone. So they are to be used with caution. (Silly me I think I've wasted all my K3 due to attrition during Soviet Winter!)

If you go on the Production Screen (The metal cogwheel icon thing!) - where you also see 'Ar:need' and then click on the specified gun it will give you the production details.

In that screen you can see it! Give me few moments to launch the game and take a screenie!

Anyway i would remove ar:need from a production screen.

its one of those coding/data structure issues, for the element to exist it needs to be notionally produceable, for production to be stopped for all the feasible game period it needs to be ar:need and -1.

in addition to the -1 - in the screen shot top left it also indicates that there are no factory locations producing it ?

My understanding is if it does not have a chassis, it does not need a special factory. Any Arms and manpower factory will do. You will find no MG34 factories.
