Soviet Motorized Units Morale bug

Post by Sir.Arnold »

In 1945, the national morale of Soviet Motorized Units should be 70 (basic 60 morale, Motorized Units 10 morale)
but only 65 in the game

Is the official wrong?????

Hmm, yes. Sov motorized bonus should be + 10 from 9/43 on, increased from +5 used from 9/42 to 8/43

That is curious. They have had months (years) to improve. Has the unit been involved in a number of defeats/routs or isolations that would account for the lower morale? My guess is no. Is it newly created or refitted unit with a ton of replaced elements? Again, my guess is no. Could it be a sinister plot by your opponent, human or AI? Depends on how paranoid you are. The answer is out there. Hope you find it.

that image is from the Vistula-Berlin scenario set up, so it maybe a scenario issue.

I've checked back to my late beta Soviet AAR and I was getting the expected NM bonus for motorised units in 1944/45

May be wrong but I think it can be a general scenario thing, Germans in '45 should be 55 and they're 50 as baseline.

The Germans get hit with the event "Germany Fully Mobilizes" on T1 of VtB which gives a -5 penalty to NM.

I personally find it unnecessary as 50 NM is too low but seems to be WAD.

in the campaign this actually keys off the loss of Paris (as in WiTW), so you get a manpower dump/bonus (forget which), you also get a large reinforcement a few turns later (keying off the earlier Falaise event) so a fair bit of compensation.

I presume in VtB the logic is that extra manpower and rebuilt formations is already in your OOB

I thought that was the thing that brings it down to 55.
Dare say that event is more 'Germany scrapes the bottom of the barrel' than fully mobilizes!
I fully concur 50 or even 55 is too low but that's a tale for another thread. I suspect most games won't get there and who plays Vistula to Berlin - well, that is a choice i'd not make on German end if not vs the AI for science!

@loki100: The difference is that when the event is triggered during the GC, you get 200k manpower added to the pool. In VtB no such thing happens which as you say could be because that has already been absorbed by your units. Im complaining about the lack of manpower dump, but the -5 penalty is too much for me.

I think it would be better if either the penalty is removed or at least the moved back so it triggers in March and not in January. I will wait to finish the VtB campaign I have going before I can say my definite thoughts on that though.

@AlbertN: Hey, Im trying VtB! For science of course [:D]

Always follow the science no matter how ridiculous the outcome or consequence.
