Case Blau (Summer 1942) scenario?

Post by DarkHorse2 »

Do I understand there is no grand campaign covering summer 1942 thru 1945 included with WiTE2?

If that is the case, it is very disappointing.

There is a DLC or expansion in the pipeline, there was a article in a gaming magazine some months back.

One of the things I would dearly like to see is a Sep 1 41 start date and or a Oct 1 41 start date.

Agree.

I tried to play a turn of the Stalingrad to Berlin scenario as the Germans, but it was too darn depressing...

I hope for more balance fixes and other issues to be sorted before DLCs are focused on and churned out.

And I'd be interested in a DLC that adds functions for Axis to create units or some form of production management, more so than scenario setups.

i agree with AlbertN

Agree that WiTE2 needs some more love, but unfortunately, the economics of game publishing may not allow any more development budget for it.

With a DLC, that is an opportunity to generate additional funding / revenue. As a result, sometimes core fixes get pushed out to a DLC development cycle. At that point, dev can assert "hey, these fixes were required to proceed with the DLC...".

DLC is just a set of new scenarios. In order for the Germans to be able to create units, like the Russians, it is necessary to significantly rework the game itself. This will not happen for the reason that such an opportunity was rejected by the developers from the very beginning! Similarly, the possibility of manual control of the industry was also rejected.

Production management, while I would love to see, is a game onto itself.

That would require an extensive amount of play-testing and balancing to get it right.

It would really require expansion of the strategic raw materials used.

This is a sample:
https://www.ww2-weapons.com/military-ex ... roduction/

FYI - aluminum is derived from bauxite
Aluminum metal has two basic ingredients, bauxite processed into alumina and huge amounts of electricity. Over 20 percent of the cost of production of aluminum is electricity. For example, 10 kilowatt-hours of electricity is required to produce one pound of aluminum. This is the same amount of electricity that would be required to heat a kitchen oven for four hours. Jones Mills at its peak consumed over 120 megawatts of power, or more electricity than was being produced in the entire state of Arkansas at the time. The Jones Mills Plant relied on the newly formed Southwest Power Pool, a consortium of power companies from Arkansas and surrounding states, to provide the enormous amounts of electricity needed to operate its smelting plant.

If there is going to be a 1942 scenario please take away the historical constraints. Virtually all scenarios of this nature lock you into advancing to the South East and Stalingrad. The more interesting what if? avenue is if after breaking through at Voronezh the Germans headed North East.
