AI with morale 100 moving as if it was on 110+

Post by Devast8or »

Posted a thread in the main forum about AI escaping a pocket, seems like it behaved as if it was on 110+ morale but I had it set to 100 (Normal Level)

See the thread here

I have the save games if needed

If this proves to be the case, please fix!

I despise AI cheats and only plan to play on 100 morale.

Yes, please attach the save at the start of the Soviet turn, or email it to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks for the report.

One thing to keep in mind in the future though is that with admin movement, it is possible to move a lot of hexes in friendly territory. With 12 MPs, most (if not all) of those units could walk out on their own. Not saying that there isn't a bug here, just saying that best strategy is to always try to at least get zocs on the hexes. Once units have to move even one hex zoc to zoc, the ability to move out goes way down. Also, taking control of the hexes, even if you can't keep units there to exert zocs will greatly reduce the ability of units to move through and get away.

Thanks for the save. The system right now is too generous letting them escape. The system Gary has should have caused 9 of the units to remain in the area, while in my test of your save only 4 were left in the area (I assume your screenshot is with FOW on and that you had a similar number not get away). In reality, moving hex by hex 14 divisions should have been left in the area. I've bugged this for Gary so that he can figure out why 5 more got out than he intended. We may also need to make it a bit less generous. Because the AI does some things differently, it can never match exactly, and we're ok with it being a little generous. But having said that, we would have expected more units to be stuck and will try to improve it. Thanks again for the report and save.

Posted in another thread but the same issue, my settings were on easy for the Soviets. The whole of the Kurland pocket, disappeared between Turn 6 and 7. A notable example was the 12th Panzer division turning up in Slovakia fighting fit. German AI morale was set at 90. This was in the Vistula to Berlin scenario.

Thanks for the confirmation Joel. I actually only saw two divisions from that pocket in my game, could be so that couple of others are not detected yet or have snuck out. I'm on start of T3 now.
