26. VGD issues

Post by TAIL GUNNER »

First of all, brilliant game. I haven't played wargames in years but this game dug me out of my disfunction.

I just noticed a weird unit in the 26. VGD in the full campaign. It is called "KG Kaufmann". It has a bunch of Nachtrupp attached to it which I thought was strange.

Kaufmann was actually the commander of the 39. Fusilier Regiment, which is in the game.

Also noticed there is no KG Kunkel, and the Panzerjaeger Abt. is missing some Pak40 and 3.7m FlaK.

Happy you like the game !
...and thanks for reporting, you are right i must add KG Kunkel, or better deploy the 26.Fusilier Bataillon.
I also must check the pzjager oob.
Fixed next update.

General Manteuffel speek about KG Kaufmann (with Pz.Lehr support), and the "reinforced" Kunkel 26.Fusilier Bataillon in Danny Parker book "Hitler Ardennes Offensive - The German View ":

Here is the Gliederung for 47. PzKorps on 14 December:

You can see that the KG is comprised of the following:
26. Fusilier Btl.
the self-propelled Kp. of the Pz.Jag. 26 (Hetzers)
2. Kp. of Aufk.Abt. of Panzer Lehr
a platoon of motorized Pionere from the Pio.Btl. 26
two light howitzers from the Art.Regt. 26
a battery of 15cm Nebelwerfer from 15. Werfer-Brigade
a platoon of 3.7cm self propelled Flak also from the Pz.Jag.26 (probably FlaK LKW 3,7cm)
Personally, I wouldn't include the Pz.Lehr elements....probably run out of slots anyway.
Also, the entire KG was motorized by scrounging up trucks from the division.

Oh, I was mistaken about elements missing from the panzerjaegar abteilung. I didn't notice it was broken into two elements (Hetzers and towed).

I can't wait....I make my own.

one unit is the "schnelle" elements, and the other is the arty and AA.
