[FIXED] Bersama Lima annoyance

Post by HalfLifeExpert »

I've started the Standalone scenario 'Bersama Lima, 2003', and I've immediately noticed something very annoying.

It seems that the side that consists of Civilian shipping is set to automatically be labelled as Unfriendly, as is the Chinese Navy. When I try to manually designated the many Civilian Junks as Neutral, they eventually revert to Unfriendly.

This is pretty annoying and I hope can be addressed in a forthcoming patch.

That does sound irritating.

As a temporary fix you could try using the scenario editor to reset side postures, and also turn off collective responsibility for the civliians (and possibly Chinese Navy, I'm not familiar with the scenario).

If you're worried about spoilers from using scenedit feel free to PM me the file and I'll make the changes for you == it'll be about a day turnaround though [:)]

I've just loaded the scenario in the scenario editor, and the posture of the player side toward Civilian Fishing Boats is already set at "Neutral".

I disabled collective responsibility for the Civilian Fishing Boats, but that still labeled some of the Junks as unfriendly.

I noticed this issue because early in the scenario, before any action happens, a friendly satellite makes a pass over the AO, and picks up almost all the watercraft in the South China Sea, needless to say It was quite a surprise to see my ships suddenly surrounded by alot of 'unfriendly' ships!

Hmmm so the side is set as neutral but certain contacts aren't reflecting the status change?

I guess the next step to try to work around is to use scenedit to:
Clear all contacts from the player's side
Set Civilians to collective responsibility ON
Set player posture towards Civilians to friendly
Close the sides dialog
Reopen the sides dialog and set Civilians to neutral
Set Civilians to collective responsibility off

That should hopefully solve the problem. If not, I'll need to take a look myself to figure out how to sort it out for you.

Obviously this is not the desired behaviour, so I'll log a ticket to see if we can get this fixed [:)]

Could there be an opfor exclusion zone? any opfor units within an exclusion zone will make this happen...been there in another scenario..[:D]

This was the issue, good pickup deepdive!

Temporary workaround:
From the scenario initial state (i.e. fresh load) change Civilian Fishing Boats side setting to collective responsibilty OFF
The Junks in the exclusion zone will still be flagged as unfriendly but this won't then be applied to the whole side

Edit: I've attached a file with this change implemented so you don't have to follow the steps above if you don't want to
