Overshoot missiles prevent the following attack until petered out

Post by Tcao »

Scenario attached.

I think this has been reported before but seems like the bug come back again. Attached scenario is an AIM-120A attack a Su-27

As seen on the screenshot, two AIM-120A overshoot the evading Su-27, then in the next 1 min 30s, the chasing F-15C will not automatically release another salvo of missiles due to 2 ARH missiles have already been fired on the Su-27. no matter how you change the WRA, it doesn't fire.

Noticed the similar problem happens on Stealth fighter vs stealth fighter scenario too, and that could have a bigger impact.
Just image a F-35 fired an AIM-260 at a J-20 30nm away, but failed to lock on. Then in next five min, the computer controlled F-35 will not fire again.

I believe that this is also true for all missiles which are controlled by radar, or some kind of guidance.

For example, the RIM-161E comes to mind. That is the long range anti-ballistic missile. If it fires and misses, it will continue to fly for a total of 1650 miles, taking up some controller slots. Often, I have to highlight it, and delete it, but that can only be done while playing from the Editor mode.

The game should have a drop weapon from control button, or detonation button, to rid these runaway missiles from their controllers.

If the attacking plane is a fighter, as in your case, then those controlling slots are quite valuable. I feel your pain.
