Just read this (from Hans Kristensen), so here is a question, could this special kind of aircraft play a role in your scenario? No idea how these capabilities are simulated in CMO, but it is included in the database.

I've uploaded Iran Strike v4 RC3 here to the forum. The 1328.12 beta patch is required. I'm going to hold off on uploading to Steam until the patch becomes official, probably sometime next week.

Biggest change in this version is the addition of some new Upgrade Iranian Air Force options. The "low" end aircraft (F-4, F-5, and MiG-21) are now separate actions from the "high" end (F-14 and MiG-29). Each group has the same upgrade options. I've also updated the SAR units to match some changes in DB503.

Unless something major comes up, I'm going to call v4 done sometime next week after the patch is released. Now time to start updating the 2025 scenario.

Edit: Pulling the update down, looks like there's a few issues.

RC4 is released. A lot of fixes in this version. All the various special actions should now be working as intended.

Unless something major comes up this version will become final once B1328.12 becomes an official release.

Just posted v4. Couple of changes since the last RC.

• Removed Conduct Cyberattack Against Iranian IADS. Attack Iranian Communications now has the same effect, no longer effects aircraft.
• Added Conduct Cyberattack Against Iranian Sensor Network special action. Generates false contacts/decoys around a selected electronic warfare aircraft. False contacts will patrol around Iranian airspace. False contacts will disappear if identified, destroyed, or after a period of time.
• Added False Missile Strike special actions. Fires a false missile strike (decoys) at selected target. Decoys will disappear within 5nm of target.
• Added additional Iranian EW radar options.
• Updated side briefings.

Working on a pretty significant update. The biggest addition/change is replacing all of the various special actions with HTML setup menus, similar to what I have done in my other scenarios over the last year. I hope to have a new version playable as the IDF out next week. The US and US-Israel sides will be temporarily disabled as they're going to take a bit longer to fully implement.

Here's a very very rough proof of concept for what the US deployment special actions will be replaced with. When you click a button, in the image the air base icon, a counter for the number of aircraft will be incremented up. Once you click done, aircraft will be deployed to their designated air bases. That's the theory anyway. The trick is having it handle all of the various restrictions on airframes and numbers, but I think it should be doable. I may also remove some of those restrictions, i.e. the limited number of available F-35 squadrons, etc.

Just posted the first beta for version 5! Lots of major changes in this release. Also probable I broke something, or a lot of somethings. I'm going to leave the current version up until I'm happy with the new version. No Steam release for now.

I've temporarily disabled playing as the the US or US-Israel. A lot of the backend changes broke the scripting for the sides. US side should be available in a few weeks time. Have a working prototype for the new deployment phase map. No more deployment special actions (thank god). I just need to do the work to convert the special actions over to the new deployment menu.

Change Log:
• Updated scenario to DB510.
• Temporarily disallowed playing as the US and US-Israel.
Added Israel Scenario Setup menu. This replaces most of the setup special actions from the previous versions. This should vastly simplify the scenario setup process. Setup menu will appear automatically after reviewing the briefing.
Added Strategic and Political Actions menu. Actions related to the setup of the player side have been split off from the main scenario setup menu. This allows players to review their forces before making decisions. Can be accessed via the "Political and Strategic Actions" special action. Will be unavailable 15 seconds after the scenario starts.
Added scenario setup option: Use Hypothetical Loadouts. This enables Iranian aircraft to use hypothetical loadouts (i.e. MiG-29s armed with the Fakour-90).
Added scenario setup option: Use Export Only Aircraft. Enabled by default. When enabled Iran Air Force Upgrade options will use export only aircraft and weapon variants (if applicable). These can have reduced capability compared to non-export models (example PL-15: range 108nm vs PL-15E: range 78nm).
Added Cyber Operations Center menu. All cyber actions have been combined into a single menu that can be accessed via the "Cyber Operations Center" special action. This menu can be accessed 15 seconds after the scenario starts or after the "Complete Scenario Setup" special action is executed.
• Added additional Upgrade Iranian Air Force options.
Completely reworked Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) functionality. Selecting units and executing a special action is no longer needed. Maneuver a rescue unit to within rescue parameters of a Downed Aircrew and recovery will happen automatically. There is an element of randomness to the recovery in order to simulate difficulties recovering the downed aircrew. Aircraft rescue parameters are within 1nm, at or below 75 AGL, and at or below 50 knots. Ship and Submarine rescue parameters are within 1nm, above -20 ASL, and at or below 6 knots. Rescue attempts are made every 5 minutes for each rescue capable aircraft.

The number of downed pilots is based on the destroyed units database crew value. Each crew member has separate survival roll, the number of crew represents the maximum number possible survivors per aircraft.

Automated CSAR Forward Refueling Point Setup. If CSAR is enabled, flying a cargo aircraft at minimum altitude and minimum speed will create a FARP at the aircrafts locations. This check is performed every minute. Cargo aircraft will be located at the new air base with a 30 minute ready time.
• Fixed points not being awarded for damaging/destroying Iranian units. Points will only be awarded for destroying objective facilities or if the damage percentage is equal or greater than 75%.

As always I look forward to feedback. Have a good weekend.

New beta posted. Fixed a number of scenario setup issues. Playing as Israel should now be working as intended. Please let me know if you encounter any issues.

Work continues on the US setup menu. Hoping to have some WIP screenshots later this weekend or early next week.

WIP on the new US deployment menu. Each air base icon is a button that will open a menu on the right side to deploy aircraft to that base. I've been playing around with where I want to put the various deployment counters. Think I'm going to take a page out of blu3s book (if you haven't checked out his Defend Luzon scenario I highly recommend it) and put the counters on the map next to the buttons and on the deployment menus.

Looks even better now! Added a summary of the deployments to the selected air base. I experimented with having a header bar that would show different information (how many aircraft where deployed of each type, or remaining for those that where in limited quantities, etc) but wasn't really happy with it for various reasons. That led me to adding tabs. Summary tab will show all that information but not be limited by a bar on top of the deployment map. While I was at it, figured a few other tabs would probably be helpful.

Been making a lot of progress. Lua for the new menu is working! Need to make a few tweaks but it's just about good to go.

Hi all, I've made a lot of progress since the last update. Summary menu now works. This is where you can see what aircraft are deployed and how many remain for the types that have limited numbers. I've also extended the functionality to the USN carrier deployments! Instead of having to use predetermined air wings, you can determine how many carriers and what air wing option they will use. Up to four carriers can be deployed, with two air wing options. A third carrier wing option for the late 2020s will be in the 2025 version of the scenario.

I have the Lua working for this but I need tidy a few things up. Few things to tidy up but the deployment menu is done. The Lua for both the USAF and USN is done. Now I need to start working on cleaning up the US and US-Israel sides - fixing broken scripts, removing unneeded special actions, etc. Aiming for a new beta sometime next week.

New update with the new deployment menu has been posted! I've tested the new menu pretty thoroughly and haven't encountered any issues. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong that I got it right the first time. Only changes since the previous screenshots is I've added undeploy buttons for everything and the air base summaries (both on the map and summary tab) now show the permanently forward deployed aircraft the US has in theater.

There are some improvements planned - finishing the Unit Info tab, adding the IAF aircraft to the order of battle (for viewing not deployment), and adding the objective facilities (to help with planning). I'm leaving for a business trip tomorrow (Sunday) and wanted to get a new beta out before I left.

Hope you like, I've put a lot of work into it. Looking forward to hearing feedback.

Hi everyone. I've been quite the last few weeks but I haven't been idle. Been working on a couple of additions for the next release.

The first is filling out the Unit Info tab. I've created "unit cards" for all of the units available to the player. The front of the card shows some basic information about the unit. If you click on the card it will flip to the back. The back shows sensors and mission relevant munitions (if available). The IAF unit cards are currently only available when playing as the US-Israel as the Israel side does not have a deployment menu. Eventually I'd like to have a link to the database for each card. This is possible now but currently the advanced HTML dialog locks all other windows from being interacted with. So while the DB can be opened, you can't scroll through it.

I don't have a screenshot of it, but I've also added the IAF bases to the US-Israel deployment map. The IAF aircraft are already deployed (you have access to the entire IAF) but I think they where important to have when making decisions about what US aircraft to deploy. I've also been making some tweaks to the deployment map itself on lower resolution monitors. This is what is holding up the release. Should be ready to go in the next day or two. In addition to scaling the air base buttons and labels down (the buttons are probably a little too small in the image below), I've also tweaked the right side menu. The deployment buttons now span the entire width of the menu and the undeploy button to wrap below it on. On higher resolution monitors they remain side by side since the right side menu is wider.

Image

That'll be it for this next beta. I have two last things to do before I call v5 done. I'm going to add the Iranian air bases and objectives to the deployment map. The objectives will give you some basic information on it, so you'll have an idea of what sort of weapons you'll need to use to be most effective. The air bases will tell you the nominal aircraft that are based there. I may try and have it take into account any upgrades but it's kind of a pain to do so that may not happen in the near future. I also plan create unit cards for Iranian units at some point. This would include both normal and hypothetical units.

Long long term I also plan to add toggleable range rings for the different aircraft on the map. Similar to how the normal map range rings work, each aircraft type would have it's own color. But that's way down the line. Once I get 2022 v5 done, I plan to switch to updating the 2025 version of the scenario. That should actually go really quick since it's really just swapping out DBIDs and adding a few additional options.

New beta has been posted. In addition to the previous changes, I've also updated the Iranian OTH radars. They should now be the correct number and types. When using 2024 scenario year option there will be a few additional OTH radars added. Will need to run the scenario for a few seconds for them to appear.

Playing this scenario this evening because of ongoing events. The timing of the scen is just too perfect  One issue that still bugs me tho is that F-15As at Tel Nof AB are still using the 1995 entry of the platform although a much more recent (2021) and capable variant is available in the DB. Would be nice if that could be fixed in future versions of the scenario.

One more thought: Maybe include a special actions option that removes most of Syrian AD/EW assets from the map to reflect the state of Syria's air defense after the fall of the Assad regime. Cheers
