In January 2025 Iran’s leader overturned the fatwa against the acquisition, development, and use of nuclear weapons. In May 2025, indications began to surface of nuclear detonation in remote part of the country. This was followed shortly after by confirmation by the Iranian government that they had detonated their first nuclear device. This test was condemned by the United States, Europe, Israel, and several middle eastern countries and across the middle east contingency plans for such an event were about to be put into action.
This is a 2025 variant of my Iran Strike, 2022 scenario. While it's set in 2025, it is intended to be a showcase of capabilities that should be available in the mid to late 2020s; hypersonic weapons, UCAVs, more 5th generation fighters, etc.

This scenario is designed as a sandbox to see what an Israeli, US, or combined strike on Iran might look like. As such, it is up to you the player to determine what type and how many aircraft to use, what weapons to arm them with, and what nuclear sites to target. I've provided a special action to instantly ready all of your aircraft so you don't have to fire speed through aircraft readying.

This is meant to be a limited strike against the Iranian nuclear program, it is not meant as a general air campaign as seen in Desert Storm or in other conflicts since. You will not get points for damaging or destroying units not related to this objective.

This scenario makes heavy use of lua randomization for overflight requests, basing rights, etc. It’s possible to remove the randomization by using the “Remove Randomization” special action. This will give any randomized action a 100% chance of executing.

• Added additional random Iranian SAM and Radar upgrade options.
• The number of USAF fighter squadrons deployed no longer influences Iranian readiness.
• Special Actions Overhaul: Special Actions are now "gated" to help improve usability.
• Special Actions Overhaul: Consolidated the USAF deployment actions. There is now a single action per aircraft type. To deploy units, select a friendly airbase and execute the desired action.
• Special Actions Overhaul: Due to the nature of the revised changes and Command Lua API limitations, all scenario setup actions must be completed before saving and exiting the scenario.
• Added Israel Special Action: Request US Missile Strike. Unlocks SSN and SSGN 'Missile Strike special actions. Select target(s) you wish to strike, execute the desired action. A dialog box will appear asking how many missiles you wish to fire at each target. Random chance to be approved by default, but can be guaranteed if you use Remove Randomization option.
• Added Special Action: Iran Strike, 2024. Post Israel-Hamas War strike in early 2024. Minor updates to the IAF. Replaces the Truman CSG with the combined Ford/Eisenhower CSGs. Reduces the number of available USAF KC-135s, removes all KC-10s and E-8Cs (no longer flying combat missions). Unlocks option to deploy a limited number of KC-46A Pegasus tankers to replace KC-10s.
• Added Special Action: Enable Search and Rescue. This is an optional feature. When enabled downed aircrews have a chance to be created when aircraft are destroyed. Aircrews can be rescued by moving a rescue capable helicopter or ship close and executing the "Conduct CSAR" special action. Rescue capable forces will automatically be added when SAR is enabled.
• Added Special Action: Setup Forward Refueling Point. Enabled when SAR is activated. Allows the creation of FARPs to refuel rescue forces. Can be created by selecting a Israel C-130J or USAF MC-130J Commando II and executing the special action.
• Added Special Action: Conduct Cyberattack Against Iranian Command and Control. Affected Iranian units will become autodetectable. Aircraft will eventually be restored to normal, while facilities will remain autodetected.
• Added Special Action: Conduct Cyberattack Against Iranian Communications. Affected Iranian units will be cut off from the Iranian common operating picture (set to no comms).
• Added Conduct Cyberattack Against Iranian Sensor Network special action. Generates false contacts/decoys around a selected electronic warfare aircraft. False contacts will patrol around Iranian airspace. False contacts will disappear if identified, destroyed, or after a period of time.
• Added False Missile Strike special actions. Fires a false missile strike (decoys) at selected target. Decoys will disappear within 5nm of target.

Each cyberattack will reduce the chance of success for succeeding actions. Effects will only last for a limited period of time. After the reset increment, there is a chance units will be reset to normal. The time between reset attempts will be reduced, and the chance of reset success will be increased. This will continue until all units have been reset.

Uploaded a minor update. Steam version is updated as well.

Update 9/12/2022:
• Added scenario variant with database updated to DB496 (Requires B1276.1+).
• Fixed Sdot Micha, once again has 24x Jericho 3 missiles.
• Fixed Game_Setup event script. KC-30 tanker option will now be turned off.

As with the 2022 version of the scenario this is very enjoyable to play though given the huge number options available!

Thank you for your kind words. I like hearing that people enjoy them after all the hard work I put into them.

There will be one more update for this one, to add the B-21 Raider when the next version of the DB releases, but beyond that unless there's a bug found I think both scenarios are done.

After taking some time away, I started working on a new scenario this week. It will be set in the South China Sea and I'm planning to have the same sort of depth and options as Iran Strike.

Another small update to add some requests from my Discord.

Update 12/21/2022:
• Added additional USAF recon assets to Al Dhafra AB. 2x RQ-4B Global Hawks, 12x MQ-9A Reapers, 4x RQ-170 or RQ-180s (Random).
• Deploy B-2 special action can now be repeated twice, for a total of 12 B-2s. This makes it easier to do an all B-2 strike.
• Civilian aircraft will stop flying once Iran has become alerted. Airborne aircraft will continue to destination but should stop flying after landing.

Update 7/28/2023:
• Updated scenario to DB501.
• Fixed error in F-15E script. Will now add the proper amount of F-15Es.
• Added Random AAA
• Added Random SHORAD
• Added additional random SAM options.
• Added special action to add additional AAA at Natanz. Imagery from May 2022 indicates that most of the AAA around the Natanz facility has been removed. Correspondingly by default there is a very low chance for AAA to be placed during scenario setup. Use this action if you wish to replace most of the AAA around the facility.
• Added new special action to deploy B-21 Raiders with air-to-air capability. This action is repeatable up to four times.
• Split Upgrade Iran AD into two actions. One using only domestic Iranian systems, one with FMS purchases.
• Split Upgrade Iran EW into two actions. One using only domestic Iranian systems, one with FMS purchases.
• Unneeded sides will now be deleted at scenario start, i.e. when playing as the United States Israel and Syria will be deleted.

Can you post a save?

It looks like the Lua init file isn't loading properly. I did a quick test on my laptop and didn't encounter any noticeable issues. I'll take a look at it sometime early this week.

Was able to recreate the issue. It looks like it was the random SHORAD function. It was throwing an error due to me being a dumb dumb and forgetting to add a few reference points. I played it with the Americans, excellent scenario!

However, given the default obsolescence of the Iranians' SAM defenses, to win in a matter of minutes, all you have to do is use the IR-CPS ballistic missiles of the USS Michigan submarine to destroy the targets, and presto! The scenario is won without even getting a single plane off the ground.

Alternatively, B-1R Lancers with AGM-183A ballistic missiles do the same easy job, without even having to do a dogfight or destroy SAMs.
