GB lose Dominant Status
Has anyone seen GB lose Dominant Status? I've seen France get gang raped about every third game and lose DS. But the slimy limeys always seem to wiggle off the hook or quit the game.

It is fun to make the POM's shut up. There are far fewer better things in EIA than that. The only problem is that once they lose 3 provinces and 3 fleets, they bail out quicker than greased lightning. And that small army...small enough to destroy in one blow if played right. Capturing stuffy little Wellington is good fun...and then denying peace when England wants it.
Good fun!

Well, only if I were France would you be endangered...It's not like the vaunted Prussian navy can be a threat...not for another hundred years or so.
It's not that I dislike the English...they are good soldiers. But most guys who I've seen play Britain are sore losers and poorer winners. Banking on the safety of their island they go for whatever they want at whomever's expense...then go nuts when they realize they've alienated everyne who can float a fleet or 3.

GB losing dominant status
Any game, and certainly a regular series of games, where GB loses Dominant Status because other countries were able to land corps in GB; evidences a situation where either the GB player is terrrible at diplomacy and/or the French player is extermely adept.
A defeated France leaves open the possibility of other countries including GB winning in the VP race. A defeated GB leaves open one possibility, France wins.
I'll take GB any day in a 1805-1815 scenario and bet that I'm not loosing Dominant Status.

GB Surrender/Losing Dominant Status
G.B. surrending (especially to France) is enough to disrupt the game regardless of who she gets buddy-buddy with afterwards.

It dose leed to fun stuff. Like Spian becoming Dominant with Ireland as a home province, that was a fun game.
GB and his Austrian lap dog had pretty much made everyone unhappy with them. The mighty Spanish, Russian, Prussian, turk alliance had already had their way with France and the GB player got in the way of the Austrian PARTITIONING. The French got wrecked in '05, something about "France is INVINCIBLE"... 6 on 1 he lasted 4 months. The GB player was only giving $ to Austria and since France was toast, was trying to take everything that Austria couldn't.

well the buddy-buddy part was more a coincidence, we where regular enemies until i landed, then we had a talk about what would happen now, England agreed to become non domininant, if i did not cripple him, so i took land as planned, took money and royal marrige.
Then we allied and i gave him back wales and scotland and kept ireland.
Later a year or so, i got into a war with prussia reduced him to 2G, made peace with him did not hurt him too much, as i felt bad over wiping him so hard and i knew russia would jump him right away and he did, i allied with prussia and had england sail 6 of my corps to finland and i moved 5 myself with napoleon to fight the russians.
Ended not long after that, because the russian player jumped me with all his corps, but i won due to being dominant (had a bit of bad rolls, only morale 4 INF, saved me there) persuit worked as well, reduced russian army by 1/3 of their size, then attacked him to reduce him again then he did not want to play anymore <g>

have also tried a game as Prussia, where the russian player said, you cant do me anything, but i can win over you, i talked to English player (different fellow) and we tried war for the fun of it, England wanted Denmark and Sweden.
England landed St. Petersburg, i went into poland, we had several battles, lost 2/3 of them, but with the money that the british placed in it, then was it easy to replace cav losses, while russia losses could not be replaced fast enough, so ended because this russian player also did not like to lose, so quit
but that was the funnist game ever, England/Prussia win over russia, cant be more fun

I've seen a couple of games where London was sacked by the French or the Russians.
I've seen a couple of games where the UK surrended either before an invasion or after an invasion.
I've also seen a game where I was the UK and I accepted unconditional surrenders from France and Russia (no more French and Russian navies)and a conditional surrender from Spain. Game ended in 1809. GB owned Sweden, Denmark, a large British/Swedish army under Wellington, and more ships than all other naval powers combined.
Basically, the way that game worked was in January 1806, France was at war with Austria, Prussia, Russia, and the UK. Spain was a nominal French ally, but not at war with anyone. Turkey was thinking about joining the war against France.
France decided to split the enemies, so he surrendered unconditionally to the UK (had to under the start at war option) and conditionally to Russia. France then pounded on Austria and Prussia and forced both to surrender. He kind of had to surrender to the UK because Wellington was playing hide and seek near Paris with 40+ factors of Brits while Napoleon with the main army was hanging out near Vienna. He didn't want to fall back into France, when he was so close to a victory over the Germans, and he didn't dare lose Paris. So he surrendered to the UK and Russia.
The UK came up with some pretext to go to war with Spain in defense of an African minor country and put Cadiz (and the entire Spanish navy) under blockade and siege.
The Russian declared war, but didn't move his fleet out of St Pete, instead preferring to apply diplomatic pressure and sent a couple of corps to Holland and Hanover (which were under British control). The Russians conquered Holland and Hanover. The Spanish, seeing no hope, surrenderd conditionally.
In the winter time, with St Pete frozen. The British moved their navy against Denmark and Sweden (both held by Russia) and conquered both while the Russians could only conquer Holland and Hanover and moan.
After the spring thaw, the British army under Wellington debarked and captured St Pete. The city fell, the fleet was scuttled, and Russian went through an economic phase without a capital and in bankruptcy.
Russian then unconditionally surrendered to the UK. Russian player quit (surprise).
Game lasted another six months game time and we restarted.

I've seen it happen too. As Spain!
Ganged up on the Brit to reduce his navy and he surrendered to everyone except me. He neglected to garrison Gibraltar and his navy was no match for mine once my former allies way laid him. I landed in Ireland and then duked it out with his army in Scotland. It wasn't pretty, but the guy was INSANE and refused to surrender.

That is basically the kind of GB player it takes to drive GB out of its dominant status. Any average player can see the writting on wall and surrender before losing any home nation provinces.
It is a general popular error to suppose the loudest complainers for the public to be the most anxious for its welfare.

RE: RE:
hubris and greed. The UK player thinks he can rule w/o friends. Then he keeps all his $$$$. About the second turn the paranoia kicks in as his navy sinks and/or gets blockaded and his little high moral army trys to fight off the corps his navy couldn't stop from landing.
About turn 3 he is scrambling to get some peace. Then London falls, we try to figure the treatment of neutral allied armies. The UK player learns how much fun it is to fight out of a blockade. Then the civil disorder rules get mashed about. For some reason the UK players NEVER read these sections???
The concept of England stands alone (I mean just the England provance), with less navy then the turks and ONLY 3.5 moral, is what ussually sends them screaming to the exits.
