Anyone got room to teach a noob?

I am probably the dumbest noob in Matrix Games history. I've owned MEiA for three years now and have yet to fire a shot in anger, even solitaire.

So what I'd like to know is whether there are any more experienced players out there willing to take such a green cadet under their wing. Ideally I would like somebody who lives in Portland, Oregon to come by and show me how to do such basic things as move and position armies, manage the diplomatic system, and basically how to play the game. Alternatively, someone who can teach by e-mail or IM would be very helpful to me in my limited development.

Finally, I will be at GameStorm in March and if any Matrix fans are going to the convention I'd be interested in meeting them.
