Where is the tutorial ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Hi,So,I did as above,I set 2 cities to supply,1 city for PP and 3 cities producing units. For each of the 3 cities producing units I made a sub HQ 1,2 and 3.After 3/4 turns I still was not recieving any units at these sub HQs but I noticed that my capitol city ( Paris ) was recieving all the units ? What am I doing wrong ?
Paris,Lorient and Albi are all connected to my supreme HQ.Comburg,Stenay and Marrans are all making units and each city has a sub HQ 1,2 and 3
I dont understand what is going wrong now ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
I tried again and this time I made sure all my sub HQs were on a railway line,so they should be connected to the Supreme HQ.When I clicked on a city or sub HQ it was empty, there was nothing there ? also when I go to select a HQ for the sub HQs sometimes there are already names there ( eg 1st HQ /2nd HQ ) and sometimes there is only Suoreme HQ,I havent got aclue as to what is going on ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
You, the player, need to fill the HQs with stuff (men) yourself. They are empty because you did not.

Sorry, I was maybe a bit hasty in my response.
I think I know what is going on, but I will need some time before I can post a guide...

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Time for another Tutorial. This one about how to change where HQs produce to.
We have looked at the above menu (or set of buttons) before. The button the RED Arrow points to allows you to change the production of the Site in the chosen hex on the map. The YELLOW text box will allow you to view ALL the Production sites you have chosen to have a HQ attached to it. The PURPLE text box shows the button that will allow you to change the HQ that production is delivered to, via the map.
Let's dive into each.
If you Right Click the first of the Buttons (from the right to left) you get the above. After you have pressed the button outlined by the YELLOW button, you get a pop-up with the HQs that exist. Those are the ones you can choose from. The numbers in the ( , ) show what area of the map they are located at. The first is the X coordinate (Horizontal) and the second is the Y coordinate (Vertical). Choose one of them, and say ok. This is likely what you did not do, and had them all assigned to the Supreme HQ.
If you choose the Second button from the first screenshot, the one that says OVER over a factory Icon, you can get the above shown. It is an overview of the Production sites you have at present that have a HQ attached to them. That is where they deliver their production. You can click on the lines where each City is shown, and if you want switch between them fast that way. You can also here change the HQ, the same way as before. Just note that you have selected the City you want to do it to first.
Also not the rectangle on the left on the city picture. Its color matches the color of the HQ that it is attached to. The other rectangle (on the right) shows how damaged the city is. In the case of these, not at all. The rectangle will show different colors, and be less full if the city is damaged. Yellow being somewhat damaged, and red being alot of damage. The amount of damage will affect how much can be produced.
The top Right box will allow you to choose ALL HQs, which will show the list on the left that can be seen here. You can choose the individual HQs, which will show the ones that are connected to it. And finally you can select No HQs. Which will show you two things. The Production sites that have no HQ connected, that you probably have forgotten and need to have them to produce... and the ones that AutoProduce, like Mines and Oil. The two latter need no HQs to deliver their production.
The final box, the White one in this picture, shown down right, is the Manual selection of HQ destinations. You get the option to click it if you have a hex selected with a Location that can produce, like a city, ... you can use it to select a HQ to that location, by selecting a HQ on the map, after clicking this button.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Finally, you may be wondering how I got the map to look like this... that is with bigger hexes and multiple units visible in each hex. Here is a short tutorial.
The three buttons that are required, to zoom in and out, I have shown in the above. You press the one with the Red text box attached in the picture, to Enlargen the hex size (to zoom in). The button with the Purple text box to shrink the hex size. And the button that the yellow text box points to to let there be more than 1 unit visible in each hex, like shown in the last picture in the previous post. Note that this option is only available in the most zoomed in mode, and if there are more than 5 units, it will show as a stack of units.
You can also use the + and - keyboard buttons to zoom in (+) and zoom out (-). If your mouse has a scroll wheel you can use that too.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
The HQs you build are named 1st, 2nd etc. You can rename them, so they won't be called that of course.PussEKatt wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2024 1:26 pm ... when I go to select a HQ for the sub HQs sometimes there are already names there ( eg 1st HQ /2nd HQ ) and sometimes there is only Suoreme HQ,I havent got aclue as to what is going on ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Hi,Thanks for this great tutorial, actually,I play on my PC in the evening and today, during the day I thought the those buttons on the left hand side might have the answer.I have to admit though that this tutorial is very much clearer than the other one.I am going to start ATG later, lets see if I run into any other problems ?!
I have had ATG for 5/6 weeks now and have not been able to get into a game ( for lack of basic information ) it makes me wonder how popular this game would be if it was easier to get into.BTW,can you explain how I can re-name the HQs as I would rather have the name of the city instead of HQ1,HQ2 etc ( easier to keep track of I think )
Thank you again,I would have put this game on the shelf and forgot about it if it was not for the help you have given me.I am dying to actually play a game and see how I do hopefully that is not too far away

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
To rename the Unit, any unit, just click on its name, where I have indicated it on this Screenshot.
Incidently, if you click on the text "Supreme HQ" here you will go to it.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
OK,Here we go again ( I must be missing one vital step here because ) I tried the following with no luck.
1 - I left clicked on a city and then the HQ button ( at left of screen ) the only choices I got was the red tick and Home.
2 -I clicked on a railway line to get an empty hex and the only options are Overview ( where I can change production )
3 - If I click on an empty hex and use the button with the green cross I can make a HQ or HQ with leader.I then get select HQ for unit, the only options are Red tick,Home and List
4 - If I select a city and click on the flag ( with the red and white checks ) I get Select HQ for unit
So,all over the place I am getting "select HQ " then no options to go any further, none that I can see anyway.I am finding this game really frustrating but I am determined to get up and running.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
I have been messing around some more and this is what I have now ( not much different to before )
A - I left click on a city then I left click on the HQ button ( at left of screen ) It shows the Toulouse garrison and says "select HQ for Toulouse" the only options are Red tick and Home.Below the map I see the box where I can change the name of the unit/HQ and to the right are the units in this city.
B - I have tried right clicking and left clicking on the map to make an empty hex and the only options I get are the button with the green cross and overview
Surely there must be a way that I can select a city then set a HQ for this city then select wether the HQ is Supreme or Sub HQ.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
If you move the mouse at this point to another HQ on the map, then select the Check mark I believe you should have changed the HQ of that city to this one. The Check mark is a way to approve the action you are about to take.PussEKatt wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 1:03 pm ...

The Green cross is "make new unit" I believe, and the "overview" is always accessible.B - I have tried right clicking and left clicking on the map to make an empty hex and the only options I get are the button with the green cross and overview
There certainly is, since I have no problem doing it.Surely there must be a way that I can select a city then set a HQ for this city then select wether the HQ is Supreme or Sub HQ.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
I was reading your explination of the 3 buttons on the left hand side of the map wrong,I have it now.I must say though that when I played and all my units went to Paris, this is what I did.
I left clicked on a railway
I then selected the button with the green cross and made a HQ with leader
I then clicked on "LIST " far right just below the map. This took me to the Overview of all my cities.I could see that 2 were assigned to supply and 1 was assigned to PPs ( these 3 cities were all connected to the supreme HQ.My other 3 cities were all making fighting units and they all had sub HQs,yet all the different fighting units ended up in Paris ?!
Anyway,I will now try it your way and if all units end up in 1 city again I will save it and send it to you.
Reading the way I made HQs and set production ( above ) I cant see that I did anything wrong.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Seems strange that they all ended up in Paris, after you advanced the turn. If it happens again, please save the game then and there, and send it to me.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
I tried "exactly"what you said and it didnt work.I think we might have different versions of this game.Mine says at the top left of the screen "Phoenix 2.40.084 Matrix.
Anyway, this is what I did (as per your instructions ) I selected a city, right clicked the red outlined button and got the production for that city ( above is the map but there is no popup to select a city )
So I pressed "escape key "and then the overview button ( outlined in yellow )I got a popup of all the cities that exist,I clicked on a city but there is no "OK" button so I went to the production part (below the map" and pressed the "select HQ" button,I got the "Select new HQ" popup but but there was only Supreme HQ,there were no other HQs on the popup. In your instructions you have Supreme HQ and 4 others.
So,at the moment I still cant get any sub HQs up and running.I will try making sub HQs with the "N" button and see if all my units go to only one city,if they do,I will save and send it to you.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
We'll get to the bottom of this

We do but there are no changes to the functions we are looking at in the one you are looking at and the one I am looking at. My version is Phoenix 2.40,098 which is the newest version published. Se here for link:I think we might have different versions of this game.Mine says at the top left of the screen "Phoenix 2.40.084 Matrix.
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 7&t=403825
Yes I see where you went wrong here, and my instructions perhaps were vague. There is a button below the city production that says "Select HQ". I have made a small snippet here that shows it.Anyway, this is what I did (as per your instructions ) I selected a city, right clicked the red outlined button and got the production for that city ( above is the map but there is no popup to select a city )
Selecting it will bring that pop-up with the name of the HQs up. This also goes for the button outlined in YELLOW above.
It is quite possible you only had 1 HQ, and that is the Supreme HQ.So I pressed (...) the overview button ( outlined in yellow )I got a popup of all the cities that exist,I clicked on a city but there is no "OK" button so I went to the production part (below the map" and pressed the "select HQ" button,I got the "Select new HQ" popup but but there was only Supreme HQ,there were no other HQs on the popup. In your instructions you have Supreme HQ and 4 others.
In any case, I will take a look at your savegame, and make a new post. Probably in a seperate thread. So,at the moment I still cant get any sub HQs up and running.I will try making sub HQs with the "N" button and see if all my units go to only one city,if they do,I will save and send it to you.
