Where is the tutorial ?

Where is the tutorial ?
I loaded ATG and loaded ( Tutorial ) there are 3,apparently and it states on screen that the tutorial is supposed to be played with the printed version in hand.I have looked through the whole manual and I cant find a tutorial anywhere !?
I am trying to get started on this game but to tell the truth I dont know how to do anything at all.I dont know how to move, dig in,make units and o top of all that the AI attacks me right from the first turn.
I have ATG with the latest update but when I click on a unit I dont see different coloured hexes, where my unit can move and when they do move (by luck ) it does not show an arrow showing the path they are going to take
Can someone walk me through the basics ( not utube )I really want to get into this game but at the moment it is about as much use as a door-stop

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
To understand the tutorial part of the game, you sort of need to know some of the history of the game. Once upon a time ATG was not gold, just regular AT. In that manual there was a tutorial text. I am unsure if that manual is included in the current install.
As for your current install, my guess is that you lack the graphics files needed to show the arrows and highlighted area. If so, that is a problem with the install. ...

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Select the unit you want to move, that is, just click on it.
Then press the M key on the keyboard, and you will go into the move mode for that unit.
You can also use the button located on the menu just below the map, that looks like an arrow. I have circled it in red on the picture below.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Oh, and I searched for the manual, and remembered it can be found in the directory you installed the game in, in the folder Manuals. It is the one called ATWW2-Manual-[EBOOK].pdf ... but there is no tutorial in it.

There are 2 other questions that I would like to ask you.

2 - How can I make a random game with 2 or 3 humn playere vs the AI
Thank you for your help,it is very much appreciated.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
PPs are produced, just like tanks and such. To produce you need to have an HQ attached to a city that can produce, then set the production queues for what you want. You can distribute 100 points (100%) over 4 slots, in total. So one slot can have 30% for instance, and another 70%. The HQ must be within range of the city, to get the production though...
Starting a random game is done through the buttons on the left side of the start-up screen. There should be 4 buttons. One for Phoenix game, one for A New Dawn, one for standard random game, and one for Classic. You probably want to play the Phoenix game one, eventually. You can begin with any of them though.
Once you get past the generation screen (where you can choose the amount of players) you will get a startup screen, where you can choose between the different regimes (nations if you will). Clicking on them will cycle through the options. They are Human, AI, AI+, AI++ and AI-. AI++ being the toughest, and AI- the easiest of the AIs. The difference between them is mainly a production bonus or malus (the opposite of a bonus).

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
You were clear
Production Points (usually named ProdPoints) help you build Political Points (usually named PPs). It is an option under the several ones that are in the build table.
Select the city, and then press this factory Icon
Select an empty Prod Slot
Select Non-Combat

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Select Politcal Points (You'll see they cost 500 Production points each).
Then press the Select HQ button, to direct the production to that HQ
A pop-up will show itself, with the HQs available for the delivery of items. (Including supply and political points)

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Hi and thanks for the very detailed reply, the only thing I dont understand about this is that, surely you would always send your political points to your Main HQ as this is where you would do your research ?
Also I see on the map that the AI have their units spread out across a border ( spread out anyway ) Do they do this by selecting their stack > then selecting the rifles > then selecting them one at a time ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
All production needs to trace a path to the HQ they deliver to, that is not blocked in any way. It has to be reachable so to speak. If not the production does not go through. Research is done based on the points that arrive, and that you then use. They are also added to the ones you haven't used already.PussEKatt wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 12:11 pm Hi and thanks for the very detailed reply, the only thing I dont understand about this is that, surely you would always send your political points to your Main HQ as this is where you would do your research ?
I am a little unsure what you mean by the above. If you mean it has more counters out there, consisting of rifles then that can be done by you too. You create a formation and then transfer what you want into it. Unfortunately not on my main PC, so can't give you a nice screenshotted guide. Also I see on the map that the AI have their units spread out across a border ( spread out anyway ) Do they do this by selecting their stack > then selecting the rifles > then selecting them one at a time ?

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Looking at the tutorial (1) has this already described. Both how to produce and how to transfer into new units...

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Each time you click on a hex it will select a unit (a counter or subformation if you will), if there is one. It will select the top one. If you click on the stack again, it will select the next one. If there are troops in them they can be moved, if the troops have enough action points to move into a hex.

Re: Where is the tutorial ?
Hi,
Thanks again for this information. In a tutorial by Vic about setting up a random game,he explains how to change the Regime order but he does not say why you need to do this.Do you know why it matters which regime is at the top,or bottom ?
