Counter mod

Post by maitrebongo »

Hello,

Here is a mod for amateurs, like me, of "the smell of burnt cardboard in the morning...".
The units (vehicles, supports and infantry but not helicopters or planes) are represented by a pawn as on the good old cardboard wargames.

To install this mod, download the .zip archive here and unzip it into the \data\database folder of your game.
To play it, select the "couters" database in the game launcher.
If you want to use the game scenarios with this mod, duplicate the scenarios in the "\data\scenario" folder of the game and replace "value=default" with "value=counters" from the "databaseID" in the scenario.xml files of each of the copied scenario folders.

Have a good game

First of all, this looks cool and I will give it a try right away.

Second of all:
"If you want to use the game scenarios with this mod, duplicate the scenarios in the "\data\scenario" folder of the game and replace "value=default" with "value=counters" from the "databaseID" in the scenario.xml files of each of the copied scenario folders. "

Thank you for telling me this workaround [&o]

The devs wouldn´t tell me this info even though I made a thread specifically about this which they replied to. [8|]

Just thought about this now BUT thinking out loud and as my eyes are getting older and not wanting to interfere with the current excellent art in the game. What about a mod that adds a colored counter base to the existing units and how much that would make them stand out on the screen/map?

I wonder if you could use the pawn symbols to replace the NATO symbols and leave the zoomed in view intact. But that´s probably not how any of this works [:D]

Well... that's exactly what this mod does.

Yes, that's how it works. You must disable the NATO symbols in the game options and display the counters in their maximum size.

I was thinking just a generic blue and red bases without any nationality symbols or vehicles names but the setup you have definitely works. [;)]

Yes, bases similar to the combat mission games or decisive campaigns games.
