Milan team vs pilbox

just a question about ME, it is not supposed that an ATGM milan team should be able to shoot at a pillbox as a hard target ?

Pillbox is a hard target, so yes, Milan is a good weapon to fire at it.

All of the weapons of that class should be able to fire at a pillbox, or bunker- tow, dragon etc.

I can download it, yes. If you want to have it visible within the post, you need to tick the "Embed picture in post" check box too.

Well well, thanks for reporting this! I am at work at the moment, will check this later today. Seems somethings not right.

I can confirm what you are seeing. Strangest thing: Milan team is classified as an ATGM, the Hard and Soft values with Weapons.pdt are as they are supposed to be, yet it can only fire within its Soft range.

Again, thanks for reporting this! I will need to investigate this further.

Fritzfarlig, congratulations, and a round of virtual beer , are in order for you have discovered a true legacy issue here.

What is going on in here is a unique mix of terrain, units and unit data fire/target flags, a pillbox, resulting in a situation where the Pillbox would need to be within both Hard and Soft Attack Range. Regardless, whether a tank firing, or a Milan ATGM section firing.

Amazingly, this is how JTCS series games work too, and no one has noticed this during these years, including us. See below a screenshot of a JTCS EF Winter War scenario, with a Anti-Tank Section targeting a Pillbox, outside their Soft range, but inside their Hard Range.

Image

We will provide a fix to this in CSME 1.03. Unfortunately, no quick fixes available, so until that be aware the limit for this Pillbox targeting.

To clarify: If the Pillbox is within both the hard range and the soft range, the Milan ATGM (or tank etc.) can fire on the Pillbox, it will be within range. But if either (or both) the hard range or soft range is (are) exceeded, no can fire, it will show "Range of weapon exceeded by [x] hex".

As Crossroads stated, that is legacy JTCS behavior, carried over implicitly to CSME. We will fix this in future releases.
