Question on two guns

Post by skraft16 »

So, I am a long, long-time player of the Close Combat series, and I just bought this game about a week ago. I was toying around with the scenario editor, and I see that the Americans have a 105mm howitzer you can add to the scenarios. The description for this gun says that it is capable of some indirect fire, like a mortar unit. I imagine it is not capable of this within the geographic scale of the game maps, which are maybe 1 or 2 square kilometers each. However, I wanted to be sure of this before I start putting these into any scenarios I decide to build. It seems to me that a 105mm howitzer would be a very powerful unit if you can tuck it behind a hill or something and have it drop what in the game's scale are large-caliber shells on the Germans and Italians elsewhere on the map.

Likewise, I have a question about the 76.2mm German AT gun that was captured from the Russians and refurbished and available for use by zee Germans? Is this a better AT gun than the standard German 75mm PAK AT gun, or is it more for "color" than being the premier German AT gun?

I cant comment on the 105mm howitzer question but I can comment on the german 75 mm VS the Russian 76.2 a/t guns....

the Russian 76.2 was comparible to the german 75mm in fire power. the germans captured a shit load of them in Russia when they invaded, and thus employed them to some units.
I believe the german 75 mm was some what better tho in hitting power.

105mm howitzer cant fire indirectly in the game. You can add multiple 105mm off-map fire support missions.
