Extensions of map files

Post by welk »

Steve, please :

Collecting CC maps that will be playable under CCMT, I noticed that for all opus, there are maps with 5 files, some with 6 files, and some with 7 files

What means the extensions of the map files ? (= what is the global content/interest of the map files)

TXT = txt data
BTD = Infos for strategic map unit positions
LOS = Lines of sight in the map
OVM= Contour lines on "unzoom map" (cf OVM mod)

MMM = ?
RFM = ?
BGM = ?

I would recommend getting Mafi's 5CC map editor for Close Combat, which comes with a manual that explains all the map files, how to edit them, and how they're used in the game. It looks like you're active on CCS so I believe you can find it there.

You don't need BTD files for maps in Modern Tactics, as it doesn't have a strategic layer. You do need all the other files.

TXT = Map data
LOS = Line of sight data (can be 'blank' / all zero and the map will still be playable.)
OVM = Overview map graphic (used on UI screens)
MMM = Mini-map graphic
BGM = Map background graphic for the main map
RFM = Roof graphics for buildings on the main map

Thanks for infos, Steve. I will take a look about this tool. And at this time, I have collected all maps of the old Road to Bagdad + maps of RedStorm Rising, and they work perfect in CCMT.

With the perfect scenario editor and the moddability with dataworkbook under excel + CC2 Spriter and RtBTool for sprites, CCMT is in my opinion the best opus of CC serie. After my "French army mod" in work, I will create scenarios with some new units in game : civilian peoples, civilian cars and autobus, transport hélicos, medical units, etc
