Close Combat Modern Tactics Problems

Post by Jäger »

Purchased Close Combat Modern Tactics thinking that it was like the Close Combat series at least to a point and then notice the following:

First of all there isn't an option to make CCMT display a screen resolution of 800x600 for some reason and the largest resolution that appears to be available is 1024x768.
When I went into the configuration settings notepad in the CCMT game folder and changed the setting to 800x600 I then get a "Rectangle Provided was Invalid" error when entering the battlefield?

Then there aren't any options to either make your men 'always follow commands', 'always see enemy', etc so I am not sure why these options aren't available like in all of the other Close Combat games?

Thanks.

The always see the enemy is decided by the scenario designer... go to the EDITOR to select a battle and change it's characteristics.

All battles are available to be edited.

Alternatively for the "Rectangle Provided was Invalid" message try lowering your screen resolution.

Hmm, that is too bad that they didn’t keep the original options from the CC series.
I was able to edit the CCMT configuration settings to accept 960x600 but that was as low as I could get it to work unfortunately, but again the developers really should have kept the original CC series options settings imo.

Will the editor edit the original game scenarios or does it only make new scenarios to edit?

Screen resolution is always 800x600 as I am a wounded military veteran and this resolution is best for me.
Thank you.

You can edit the existing supplied scenarios... taking a look is the best way.

Well being that I didn't build the thing I thought that I would ask is all in case there was an alternative that I was not aware of first before I went to the trouble.
Still seems rather strange as to why the developers didn't simply keep the original CC game options as that would have been 'the best way'.

Thanks for posting your opinion.

CCMT is a retail release of Close Combat Marines , a training program developed for and used by the US Marines.... hence most details reflect those required by the Marines.

Many options have changed... eg CCMT has the best and most flexible Scenario editor available for any CC release..

CCMT has provision for 5 players per side in H2H games.. this option is not available in in other release of CC..

there are those that would argue that some/many/most/ all changes are for the best....

cheers.. explore the game and have fun.

I am a former US Marine and I disagree as do several other CC gamers on several game forums as the game should have reflected the Close Combat series of games in all aspects including options. However since its not like the other Close Combat games I as well as others are not interested, but apparently there are others that like it and that's good; maybe the developers will come out with a CC modern US vs USSR game that is just like the CC series that would be nice.
